I was on my way to work on Monday morning when a guy driving over 40mph on a residential zone, ran a red light hitting me hard on my passenger side trunk.

Followed the protocol - called the cops, got the report, went to the Geico appraiser for the quotes. The damange - 4400+ and Geico wants to offer 50%.

Why would my insurance company not help because I do not have collision.

There were people who saw the accident but did not want to get involved so they moved away from the scene. The accident happened 8 houses from my residence at 8.00 am.

My insurance company says that the point of impact is in my favor but would not do anything to help me. The height of the nonsence is that they sent a claim to my insurace asking to pay for a dent on the other driver's passenger side front bumper.

The other guy lied to the cop that he had the green when he was on a cell phone yelling at someone as he was coming out of the car. The jerk!

Gotta find a good lawyer to fight geico cause neither do i have the money to come up with the other half nor the heart to do it.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Huh? your insurance company has nothing to do with the claim

AUTHOR: Bill - Lansdale (U.S.A.)

You need to be more descriptive. If you didn't purchase insuracne for your car (i.e. COMP and COLL), your insurance company has nothing to do with the claim for your car. It's between you and the other carrier. That was the choice you made.

In the real world, you do need collision to protect yourself from the other guy.

AUTHOR: Mike - Radford (U.S.A.)

Should you carry only liability insurance, be prepared to pay for collision damage to your car, even if it wasn't your fault. If your car is worth more than a couple thousand, it is worth it to keep the "full coverage" even though you aren't required to.

My experiencs has been that the other company will always jerk you around unless your company risks having to pay (because you have collison coverage). Then your company will call the other company and make them pay up.

If both drivers have the same company then they are both screwed regardless of any other facts of the incident.
