Edinburgh Motor Home Hire charged my credit card for damages without proof of damages and refused to send me a reciept for my insurance company Edinburgh scotland

I rented a motorhome from these people and when i returned it i was charged for a chip in the windshield. I was charged $1,000 canadian dollars on my credit card after i left.

When i asked for proof that the windshield was damaged and replaced so i can claim it on my insurance they refused to provide proof that the windshied was in fact damaged and also refused to provide proof that it was indeed repaired anywhere and that they paid to have it repaired or replaced.

It should be noted that when i picked up the motor home it has signifigant damage to the doors, floors etc and they told me that the person that rented it before me had done a lot of damage to the unit.
I have no problem paying for something if i am responsible, but they have furnished no proof that i did the damage and they have taken my money without proof that any damages were in fact repaired.

Mr Anderson returned our motor home on the 13th of june with a 20inch crack along the motorhome wind screen. not a chip as stated in mr anderson report. at the time was sorry for the damage done and said there was no problem paying for the damage to be repaired. he also stated that we took money from his account after he left our home. mr anderson had to come to the credit card terminal and sign the credit card receipt before he left. i did give mr Anderson a receipt from Edinburgh motorhome hire for the sum of £500.00. after the repair i emailed mr anderson to tell him the full cost for a replacement windscreen was £691.00 he then asked me to send him a receipt for this amount so he could claim his insurance i told him that he only paid £500.00 towards this. there for the receipt he already had was the one he should claim from his insurers but he wanted the new receipt for £691.00. At the time mr anderson also told me he would hire from us on his next holiday. if i new that mr anderson would go to this lenth to tarnish our name i would have sent him the receipt for £691.00. also i think this web site should make sure the information is true or at most contact the company in question to make sure the information is correct.

Come on William. I asked you for a copy of the reciept a hundered times.
I also offered to have my insurance company call the repair place directly to get a copy of the reciept and to prove that the unit actually was repaired.
I did not want to claim the $600 pounds on my insurance as you claim i only want back what i am entiltled to from my insurance company.
You have an obligation to your customers to give them a reciept from the repair facility not just to give them a print out from the terminal showing only a charge and not what it is for.

You did also not mention the fact that there was a small chip in the windshield that was in the area of the black strip around the windshield and could not have been seen when i picked the unit up even though you were up-front about the damage the previous renter did. All we did was turn on the defroster and the windsheild cracked.
We tried to contact you immedialty but your phone does not have answering machine etc. I went to a garage and was told that the chip must have been there and as you acknowledged you even heard about the de-froster cracking windshields due to chips so small they cant be seen.
As i mentioned in my initial complaint i have no problem paying for damage if i caused it, but i am entiltled to a reciept to mitigate my damages.
