During the Hurricane Dean crisis I was forced to leave end my vacation early and had to get a rental car at Miami International Airport. I rented a car from Enterprise Rental Cars.
I rented a Ford Focus. It was almost all they had left. I was charged $64 a day for this car, plus numerous surcharges totalling $485 for 4 days!!
When I returned home from vacation I looked up Enterprises' rental rates. The same car I rented is advertised to rent for $21.69 a day.
This is price gouging. Taking advantage of stranded travelers during a crisis is unethical.
Numerous other travelers experienced the same problem. Companies like Enterprise should be called on the carpet for taking advantage of people during a crisis situation.
