I Needed interior detailing service for my 2000 Volkswagon Jetta. The owner Michael Krabbe was available to drive me home while my car was being cleaned. He explained how this was the level of service his new company wished to provide customers.

Mike drove me about 1 1/2 miles home and promised to deliver the car to my doorstep at 6:00 PM. At 7:45 PM I called the shop.Mike said it would be 20 minutes because the car was drying out.Mike did show up at 9:00 PM!
Mike said," I can't get the windows up, I'll give you a free detail service to better clean the seats". My daughter walked outside to see the windows halfway up and told him a button to disable the windows must have been pushed. Mike left in a hurry. She checked the button and it did not work. The taillights, locks, and windows did not work. Turning on the headlights caused the trunk to open.

I called Mike in the morning, he said, "The car needed to be jump started because the battery died and I should take it to a dealer to have the computer reset , I will take care of it" The mechanic found the computer was ruined by water. The connectors were completely wet. The computer is located on the floor under the carpet. The repair was 469.00 dollars. Mike told me that the car was brought in like that and he refused to pay. He actually accused me of trying to scam him.

I don't know who would drive around with windows half down in December and I certainly don't understand how the car was washed on the outside if I brought the car in like that.

Simple Solution...

AUTHOR: Robert - Irvine (U.S.A.)

Here is your simple solution.

Get a statement from the Dealership that stated it was ruined by water.

Send a Certified letter to the owner of the car wash that states they are responsible for the damage because of negligence. Give them 14 days to remit payment to you or you will file suit.

If they do not remit the payment go to your local court house and file a Small Claims Case. When you go to court either bring the mechanic from the Dealership or the letter that states the reason. I am surprised that the owner did not try to bring up the "we are not responsible for any damage or loss" clause that most of these places do. However, in this case even if they did have that clause hopefully you would prevail on the grounds of negligence.

We are appalled by this show of extortion!

AUTHOR: Michael Krabbe - Palatine (U.S.A.)

We are appalled by this show of extortion! We have actually contacted the Daily Herald to inform them of this issue & make them aware of the fact that these bogus claims against small business owners happen every day. We have substantial proof that debunks everything being claimed against us.

When the car was returned to Helen's home, we informed her daughter of an electrical problem. She said that, "they have been having problems with the electric system for some time". After Helen called claiming we caused issue with the CPU, we made our own calls to multiple Volkwagen (VW) dealers & spoke with their head mechanics. Every dealer we spoke with said exactly the same thing, which is, that there was NO way we could have caused any damage to the CPU because of where it is located in the vehicle. Its location is in the dashboard underneath the firewall next to the engine compartment.

According to the experts at VW, Helen, who is making this bogus claim, is even mistaken about the location of the CPU. They went on to say that the 1999-2002 Jettas have had many problems with their CPUs. We can prove all of this with licensed VW mechanics. However, we feel Helen didn't even speak with one because the quote she provided us looked questionable, as it did not even have a mechanics name or contact information on it. Our response clearly shows that this claim is nothing more than Helen's pitiful attempt to extort money from a hard-working, honest, family owned & operated small business.

Details Car Wash

AUTHOR: Rob - Palatine (U.S.A.)

I have been a client of Details Car Wash since they opened their doors. To date, whenever there has been a problem, big or small, Mike and his staff have come to my immediate assistance. So much so, and I talk about it so often that one of my Christmas gifts was an annual wash package.
On a recent visit, there was a minor problem in which I found there to be a very minor mark on my car by no fault of the wash or the staff and, frankly, I didn't know when it got caused. They quickly shuffled my car around to the detail bays and, before I knew it, they were polishing it out at no charge.
It is rare to find such quality service and I am shocked to hear that Mike would deny any legitimate claim. I have found him and his entire staff to be solid and honest in every way and would sincerely question anyone that thinks otherwise.

Thanks Details Car Wash. Keep up the GREAT work and thanks to for standing up to bogus claims that cause nothing but trouble for small business owners because people won't accept responsibility for their own issues.

Regards,
Rob
