Silverpoint Car Care Center Brought car in for wash. They broke windshild/wipers. Gave written statement they would fix. Backed out. College Point, New York

On Sunday, September 19, 2010, we brought our car to SILVERPOINT Car Care Center to be washed.  They broke the windshield wipers and scratched the windshield beyond repair.  They immediately took full responsibility for this (it was back-and-white and there was absolutely no question that they were at fault).  They gave us a written, signed, dated statement (by the store manager whose name is ABEL) saying they would pay for all of the damages.  They asked us to get an estimate which we did in a very timely manner.  The estimate was more than they expected (we have a range rover with a heated windshield with a rain sensor) and as soon as they got the price they stated backing out.  They came up with a huge wopper of a lie and said it was our fault because we did not turn the rain sensor off.  The rain sensor was definitely off when we gave them our car.  They turned it on manually.  Furthermore, they did not tell us to turn it off or post anywhere that it needed to be turned off.  It was off anyway.  Now we have had to file an insurance claim and are on the hook for the deductible.  We even had to pay for the car wash!  DO NOT HAVE YOU CAR WASHED HERE YOU WILL REGRET IT.  They are incompetant, liars, cheaters - especially this ABEL guy do not let him anywhere near your car ever.  ABEL and the other people who work here should not be allowed to operate a business in the USA.  They are a fly-by-night company which does not post legal requirements, properly train their employees, or car if they damage a car.  While we were there we saw them damage another car and they said "see we break cars all the time it is normal don't worry."  DO NOT USE THIS CAR WASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
