Today I started receiving calls from a man with an middle eastern accent saying his name was Mike Douglas.  He was very unprofessional and kept telling me that I needed to call him and if I didn't call him all he could say was good luck to me and I was in very big trouble.  He left a phone number to call.  310-598-1647.  Before I could call him back, he called my cell number again   He was saying things like I don't take him seriously and I need to call him back or I was going to be in big trouble.  I received three calls from them in a 5 minute span.  I finally called them back after I got tired of them calling and spoke with a man(again with a middle eastern accent) and he wouldn't tell me what it was about.  He kept saying there was a lawsuit against me and wanted to know my lawyer's name so they could serve him a subpoena.  I kept asking what it was about and the man said "You're trying to tell me you don't know what this is about?".  I asked who was suing me and that he needed to provide some documentation.  He said the only way they can do that is to send a subpoena to my employer and then my employer would know everything about this.  He then started to verify things like an old bank account I used to have and the last four digits of my SS#.  Instead of responding I again asked him who was suing me and he then hung up on me.  I confirmed that the information he gave me was correct and he then told me that it was a payday loan that I had received and never paid back. He told me I would have to go to the courthouse. ............in SAN DIEGO, CA to get it or else they would send it to my employer!!!  I live in Alabama!!!  I finally ended up telling him that I knew it was fraudulent and told him I was going to report him. He started laughing and hung up.  Unfortunately, I have had my share of problems with debt collectors and I knew this didn't sound right. He was trying to get me to make a payment with my debit or credit card to avoid being taken to court but would not provide me with any proof of the loan other than to say I owed 645.37$.  About an hour later, I received another call from yet another man with a middle eastern accent who apparently didn't know that I had already spoken to someone else.   He said it was a payday loan through Cash Connect and that he was calling from a law office, Back Office Legal Department.  They kept saying I was going to have to go to court in California and the people I listed as references would have to go as well.  I guess I have yet to see if I'll be served with paperwork but I don't believe this was real.   It was truly unethical and it was downright harassment!
