I also received a letter and a check from Pinecreek Interal Word Sweepstakes saying that I had won $2810. I called the phone number in the letter(1-514-652-3800) and talked, supposedly, to Laura Myers. She said that I should deposit the check in my bank as soon as possible and then call her back. The check really looks legit !!! Didn't sound quite right on the phone call though. Won't go into detail so they can correct that part.

I've since found out that the routing number of the bank does not exist. Probably, since there is enough money in my bank account to cover this amount, my bank will OK the check, I willl have called her back before my bank finds out that this account and rounting number does not exist. They will probably ask me to send this amount($2810) back to them because this is, supposedly, the "taxes" on my winnings. My legitimate check(or debit or charge card or whatever means I choose) will get to them and they will cash it before my bank finds out about the bad routing number and comes back to me to make the check good.

I pretty well know that I have not/will not get something for nothing but I worry about others out there or older folks who will buy into this scheme.
