All of the accusations made by the reporting party can be unequivocally proved to be false and extremely defamatory. These comments were made maliciously and were intended to injure Les Brown, personally, and Les Brown Enterprises, in its trade, office and profession. As such, they are defamatory per se.
Below, we have noted some of the more patent, malicious, and libelous comments made by this anonymous writer, who is so cowardly that they refused to release their identity so that Les Brown and/or Les Brown Enterprises can respond to them directly.
1. In the posting, the anonymous writer stated that she paid Les Brown 10k to coach/train her and to be her mentor as a motivational speaker. She claims that Les Brown “played upon” the fact that she had just received a divorce from an entertainer (a fact that tells us EXACTLY who that anonymous writer actually was) by telling her that he could help this woman develop her signature story. He in no way traded on any vulnerability she may have had. The fact is that the very business model of Les Brown and Les Brown Enterprises is to train ordinary people to tell their signature story. For this reason, her unfounded accusation that Les Brown in any way “traded” on her situation or vulnerability by offering to train her to tell her story is simply ridiculous.
2. The anonymous writer then stated that Les Brown “knew I was very vulnerable and he moved very quickly from a business relationship to making it a personal relationship.” Les Brown unequivocally denies that he made any attempt to have a “personal relationship” with this woman beyond the fact that he attempted to mentor her by holding meetings with her where she was interviewed and FILMED as Les Brown attempted to train her to tell her signature story.
3. The woman continued her libelous tirade by stating that Les Brown “promised me from the beginning that he was going to teach/coach me one on one. That NEVER happened! I had a few sessions with his daughter and I went to a few seminars. He NEVER coached me or worked with me. “ This passage from her posting begs the question, how could Les Brown have traded on her vulnerability, and turned a professional relationship into a personal relationship if, in her own words, he NEVER coached her or worked with her? That is simply impossible. This woman is plainly emotionally unbalanced and she is the worst kind of liar. The statements that she makes in her posting are internally inconsistent, and can be proven to be utterly false. Firstly, she claimed that she worked with his daughter, and that she attended a few seminars. Please note that video sessions with Les Brown’s daughter (who is a videographer) and group seminars are the hallmarks of Les Brown’s work with potential speakers. The videotapes of her coaching sessions are irrefutable evidence that he performed on her contract with Les Brown Enterprises. The videotapes show this woman and Les Brown’s daughter in his studio, and Les Brown can clearly be heard on the telephone giving her ONE-ON-ONE coaching on how to develop her signature story. She cannot claim that he NEVER performed on his contract with her, and then state that she worked with his daughter multiple times, and that she attended a few seminars. The accusation simply doesn’t make any sense. She showed herself to be a liar in her own posting.
4. The headline states that Les Brown is guilty of “Civil RICO Violation.” However, the posting itself offers absolutely NO PROOF WHATSOEVER that Les Brown engaged in any activity that amounts to racketeering. This accusation is completely without merit, and can only subject the writer to liability under the law.
5. By far the worst accusation, which is libel per se, is that she accuses Les Brown of giving her mononucleosis. While this woman may, indeed have a disease, she did NOT contract that disease from Les Brown. You may be aware that falsely accusing someone of having and/or spreading a loathsome disease is LIBEL PER SE when it can be shown to be a false statement. Les Brown can easily prove that he has NEVER had mononucleosis.
The simple fact is that after contracting with Les Brown Enterprises to receive coaching services, this woman approached Les Brown with a project that she wanted him to participate in. He refused. His refusal enraged this woman, and before leaving the restaurant where they met she stated, “This isn’t over. You’re going to pay for this.”
Shortly thereafter this filthy, false, malicious and openly libelous post appeared on your website. Les Brown only recently found out about the posting and is responding to it in a timely manner.
After her outburst Les Brown refused to take her calls. The woman is clearly unbalanced and, frankly, she’s a liar. Les Brown did not stop performing on her contract. Rather, she states in her letter that she unilaterally decided to stop taking the workshops and the coaching sessions.
If anyone was taken advantage of, it was Les Brown and Les Brown Enterprises because this woman clearly paid for his services without having any intention of receiving the services. Rather, she contracted with the company only because she intended to dupe and then strong arm Les Brown into participating in her project. This is evident in the fact that she states in her posting that she attended some videotaped private coaching sessions, and, further, that the coaching sessions and workshops (which are specifically set forth in the speaker training agreement) were unacceptable to her. She wanted more. This is very telling…However, the fact is that the speaker coaching program consists of videotaped private coaching sessions with Les Brown and/or his daughter and group speaker workshops. Her letter proves in her own words that he performed on the contract. Her motives were unclean in the first instance, and her accusations can be proven to be false in a court of law.

These comments were made maliciously and were intended to injure Les Brown, personally, and Les Brown Enterprises, Inc. in its trade, office and profession. As such, they are defamatory. The posting also constitute tortuous interference with the business and contractual relations of Les Brown and Les Brown Enterprises. As such, they are actionable and expose the anonymous writer of the libelous statements to the imposition of compensatory as well as punitive damages.
