I am a former At&t customer which is now cingular. I am currently USING THE digital network (TDMA).
Cingular practices deceptive sneaky business dealings, In my September Statement there was an additional charge for using the tmda network. I had NOT been put on notice prior TO THE changes. I discovered the additional fee in my September statement. I call the lousy customer service and was placed on hold so that the agent could get confirmation because apparently he was not clear on the reason it was placed on my account."either that or he was playing dumb".

My contract did not include AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE NETWORK TMDA that was offered when I got the service. I feel like I am being FORCED/PIMPED/ROBBED to change to the new GSM network which does not offer the plan that I currently have with the promotions the new plans don't come close. Cingular is unwilling to match the minutes or compromise. Cingular wants it all... I will go to another wireless company before I let those JOKERS force me to switch.

TDMA/Analog Network Fee

AUTHOR: Tim - Dartmouth (Canada)

You were informed of the notice. If you go and review your July 2006 invoice you will see this notice, and FYI its not just the att customers its anyone on the TDMA/analog network :

Bill Message starting with July 8, 2006 bill cycle: The rates for your service on Cingular's TDMA/Analog network are increasing. As early as September, a TDMA/Analog network charge of $4.99 per line will appear on your bill each month. Alternatively, you have the option to upgrade to a handset and rate plan on our new and improved GSM network, the largest voice and data network in America, with the fewest dropped calls of any national wireless carrier. To learn more, visit a Cingular store near you.

AS WELL

AUTHOR: T - Mammoth Spring (U.S.A.)

In addition you can upgrade with no upgrade charge as a courtesy. As well as if you are in a current contract and you want to opt out because of the fee you may do so with no term fee.

TDMA network charge

AUTHOR: Steven - Youngstown (U.S.A.)

It is true - all companies that currently are still selling TDMA and have a GSM domination mindset are upping the plans or charging a fee for TDMA services....reason being? It is too expensive to have to pay for 2 different networks...when they are having to pay for TDMA and trying to improve GSM it does not work because the extra money that could go towards the new GSM network is just being wasted on a technology that will be phased out....The company I work for does not have a seperate fee for TDMA network charge we just added 5.00 to the monthly service....The cell phone companies do state in their contract that rate plan fees can change prior to 30 days notice...unfortunately if you do not read that part of your bill usually under "important messages" after 30 days you can not just say that you want out of it as you agreed because you did not give a notice to cancel out............I understand your TDMA plan is probably better than the GSM because you get more minutes for less....but that is because all those minutes you get are dropped...TDMA is a horrible service...no one has it anymore really..we are taking down the towers...with GSM you have a lot of networks to run off of - thus leading to fewer dropped calls....I think that it would be best to stop being one of those customers on their high thorn and stop complaining about migrating over and just do it if you want a cell phone - or cancel with Cingular...because eventually they will make you cancel if you do not want to migrate over...Cingular has pretty good pricings for their rate plans (i am looking at the website) If you dont think so go find another company then..but you probably wont get as good pricing...maybe with T-mobile ....
