I had been an Extend America customer for over a year until they were recently bought by Sprint. Since their service could only cover my home on a nice sunny day without any wind, we decided that at the end of the one year contract, we would cancel the phones. Incidentally that was the same time that Extend America was selling out.

We spoke to Laura about the switch and inquired about our deposit. She stated that after the switchover we would receive our $500 deposit. We then signed a new contract with Sprint in November. Again we asked Laura when we should expect to see our deposit, she then informed us that it would be after the first of the year. We were later told that it would be after we received our first bill from Sprint.

After I received the first bill from Sprint I called Laura. I asked her again about the deposit, she informed me that she was not in her office at the time and could not look into the matter and asked if she could call me back.

A few hours later she left a message on my phone - "It looks like we never received a deposit. We ran the phone under another name and therefore did not need a deposit." (Yes- I kept the message, couldn't believe they were trying to rip me off!)

So after 3 months of talking to Laura about my deposit, all of a sudden today, I never gave them my deposit!!! Yes, that's what they told me, that because they "ran it under another name" I wasn't required to leave a deposit. Then explain how come there is no record in my account of a co-signer, or how come the bill has only my name on it and how come there isn't a single person able to produce a copy of my contract.

I asked those very questions to the person who claimed to be Laura's supervisor, Lynn. She was absolutely the rudest individual I have ever had the pleasure of talking to, and I'm in the military! Her antagonistic personality proved her to be completely worthless and of no help in attempting to resolve this matter.

I have been in contact with Sprint who has informed me that there is no co-signer, nor was there. But at the same token, they have no record of deposit. So what's the truth- Was there no Deposit or was there no Cosigner. Because with my credit- I would have needed one of them.

I then went back to the Tool Crib where I originally purchase the phones and was told that Extend America was not going to give me a copy of my contract, nor would they give a refund unless I provided a cancelled check to prove the payment. I explained to them who my husband has always done the bills and last week he received short notice orders to the Middle East and have been unable to talk to him, or ask about the location of out original contract. I was also told at that time that the only other way they would give up my contract was through a lawyer.

What ever happened to "The customer is always right."
I hope that this is all clear, I'm still a little upset.

Wade Williamson Prudential Minot

AUTHOR: Beatrice - Sawyer (U.S.A.)

This is the man who wrote up the contract and "Allegedly" took the 500.00 deposit. When asked in court why he scratched out (on the contract) that a 500.00 deposit had been paid, he said he did it to save paper. I hope he is doing home contracts a little more carefully these days, now that he is a realtor for Prudential in Minot ND. Trust me Wade, if it were a matter of saving paper, I would have brought you a few sheets.
