It's great to see people like you reporting these ever-increasing incidents with Verizon! One other item customers or potential customers of Verizon should be aware of is they often do NOT even stock replacement parts, such as, batteries for your wireless device.
This is a foregone conclusion if you happen to be a former Alltel customer as I was until Verizon took it over. I recently needed a new battery for a Motorola cell phone I've had for a few years (originally supplied by Alltel). But, after checking with the local Verizon store, I find they don't even stock the replacement battery for my phone!
Ended up going to Radio Shack to find a new one. This seems to be the same old marketing routine with Verizon. They advertise all these fancy, great-looking phones with multiple deluxe features, luring the customer to buy them (thinking they are getting a brand new phone)...only to end up as you did with a defective device...not only once, but twice! To add insult to injury...they manage to prolong any issue of defective equipment with the customer until that "oh-so-great" 30-day satisfaction guarantee has expired, leaving the customer with a piece of junk and locked into a 2-year contract! (Unless of course...you're willing to pay their early termination fees of $175 & upwards). What a crock!
I would bet if you were to check with a Verizon store right now about obtaining a replacement battery or some other accessory for your phone...they would probably tell you it is "out of stock", or they don't carry it any longer. Then, they will turn around and try to talk you into purchasing a different phone (no doubt for a higher price + a contract extension), claiming that the newer phone is one they DO have replacement parts for, etc, etc!
It's unfortunate Verizon obviously doesn't ever bother reading all the massive number of complaints against them on this consumer-reporting site alone! Until more customers begin bombarding Verizon's Corporate Offices, the FTC, FCC, BBB, and any other appropriate agency with the ability to initiate some action against Verizon...they will only continue their reprehensible track record of customer abuse!
Perhaps there is STILL an attorney out there somewhere...who actually CARES more about seeing justice obtained for the common person rather than whether or not a case is going to generate big $$$ or greatly enhance their professional & social standing in society, who would come forth to help all Verizon customers make a stand against a company who, like the other big Wall Street firms...think they are above doing the right thing and nothing and no one...can touch them!
