I bought a new phone and mailed in the rebate card. I received a Verizon Credit Card (or debit card) with the $100.00 credit on the card supposedly a Visa Card. The problem was that no one would take the card. It always came up "not able to use" at supermarkets, anywhere I could use a Visa Card. So the card is basically worthless.

Why blame Verizon or post HERE?

AUTHOR: Bikebryan - Alexandria (U.S.A.)

Your problem is not with Verizon...the credit card is not issued or backed by them. Blame, and contact, the bank that issued the card.

Then learn to post your complaints in the appropriate forum.

BikeBryan, You Are Quickly Establishing Yourself As An...

AUTHOR: Anthony - Rossville (U.S.A.)

...Idiot.

While there may be an explanation as to why the card did not work, and it should have worked anywhere, it would be natural to call Verizon to seek a remedy. Customer Service could politely point them to the proper phone number to call.

This new trend of teaming up with debit card providers to return funds for rebates and other purposes has been plagued with issues such as this person described.

The bottom line is that deflecting it on the party that issued the card will not work. The rebate was OWED by Verizon, as long as it was claimed correctly. It certainly appears in this case that it was, and they absolutely have a responsibility to assist their customers in receiving it.

Thus...it WAS reported correctly.

Not issued by Verizon Wireless

AUTHOR: Vzwdoughboy - Tacoma (U.S.A.)

Your rebate card is actually filed by a company called Parago found at http://www.parago.com/Rebates . They are the ones that issue the card, not Verizon Wireless. Verizon Wireless just proxies the rebate through them.

WRONG

AUTHOR: Bikebryan - Alexandria (U.S.A.)

I'm not the idiot. YOU are as you do not understand the rebate process or who "owns" the process.

The process is run through a third party clearing house that works for many wireless providers. The rebate itself comes from the MANUFACTURERS, not Verizon Wireless. All Verizon is doing is providing the phone. The manufacturer provides the discount through the third party vendor.

So get your facts straight and understand a process before you call somebody else an idiot.

Lynda, cash your rebate at the bank or use it to pay your Verizon phone bill

Lynda, cash your rebate at the bank or use it to pay your Verizon phone bill. See the website below.

Lynda,

AUTHOR: Scooterk - LAurys Station (U.S.A.)

The first thing you want to do with ANY credit or debit card when it doesn't work is call the toll free number on the back. Whether it is from a rebate or attached to your account at the bank doesn't make a difference. Please call the number and advise them of what is happening. It is possible that when Parago sent the card, the strip did not get coded properly causing the 'read' error that you are getting. It doesn't happen often but they probably issue hundred or even thousands of those cards every day.

I am hoping that this corrects the issue for you.
