Neighborhood daycare seemed great at first...

I have a 1 year old child, who it was determined that she could not properly digest milk products, resulting in diarrhea or vomiting. The daycare was informed of this. I supplied bottles with appropriate juices which she could handle.

Suddenly she was having diarrhea often. When taking her to the doctors, initially I was told there was nothing wrong, but the daycare insisted that the stomach flu was going around. So I took her to the emergency room, where they said it probably was the rotovirus.

My daughter stayed home for a couple days, but had no problems and no diarrhea. As soon as I took her back to the daycare, they would call and say that she was sick again. She'd come home and be fine. Take her back, and she was sick again.

There was also the concern of the "Cuddle Grams" that are sent home with the toddler age children. On a few of them, the beverage written down was listed as milk. I brought this up to a teacher, she said she wrote it down accidently. It was an oversite.

I then got another one that said milk, which oddly enough corresponded with her getting another bout of diarrhea, which lead to her being sent home. This I brought up with the "assistant director", who is also a teacher there. She said she would take care of it.

Suddenly after more than 1 week of miscellaneous diarrhea incidents which only seemed to occur at the daycare, I took my child to the emergency room to do a stool sample. There was no obvious reason for her frequent diarrhea, which lead me to wonder if the so-called constant "oversites" on her cuddle grams were actually factual.

I then lost my job due to being unable to attend work due to her constant need to be sent home. My 4 year old came up to my sister one day and told her that he watched one of the teachers give his sister milk in a sippy cup more than one time recently.

I was then informed that I will be required to pay 2 weeks of daycare, eventhough there is documentation showing the daycare was negligent in the care of my child, and I no longer have any funds to pay something like that, since I no longer have a job.

They are constantly calling my sisters house, where I no longer reside, and occassionally she's seen one of the teachers drive by, which I've also witnessed when visiting.

My daughter is doing fine now that she hasn't gone back there. Funny how her constant diarrhea hasn't appeared lately.

Also, be careful if you have young children such as 1 year old, apparently they are permitted to use the child slides unattended. My daughter was sent home with a small cut under her eye, and some facial bruising, due to a tumble off the slide. Personally I feel a child who can barely walk without stumbling really has no reason being on a slide without someone right there, even if it is only a couple feet off the ground. My child got hurt, so can yours.

I advise to just beware. It appears to be a better daycare for the older children, maybe because they can tell their parents what's going on, whereas my daughter couldn't. But my son is helping to fill in the blanks.

How much more will it take? you were aware of these conditions and yet you STILL PLACE your child there!

AUTHOR: Tracy - Silver Springs (U.S.A.)

How many more times will you subject your child to harmful and wilfull neglect? Yes, the day care you described sounds horrible. But you are EQUALLY AT FAULT for placing your children in this place. You, yourself, stated you were aware of these conditions and yet you STILL PLACE your child there!?!?!?
