Newport News has the worst customer service on the planet, and I will never order another item from them, as long as I live! 

This summer I ordered a dress from their catalog.  I never received an order confirmation, but received the dress within a couple of weeks.  It was not even close to the color it showed in the catalog so I returned it.  After waiting 4 weeks (more than ample time) for them to credit my card, I called and they insisted they had up to 6 weeks.  Well their website says 30 days.  This alone is ridiculous - it's not THAT hard to run a credit through on a credit card these days.  They are scamming anyone who has to return things - they are riding on your money as long as they can.

Foolishly I ordered some other items from them recently and they were too large, so I sent them back for exchange.  My package tracking shows they received it on 11/04/09, yet, no confirmation of them receiving it, nothing on their website indidating there was an exchange in process.  So After a week, I called and waited on hold for 15 minutes.  Of course the girl who answered the phone  could only say "it takes 6 weeks".

Okay, first of all 6 weeks does not equal 30 days.  They need to straighten that little fact out RIGHT NOW.  That's more like 4 weeks.  She was able to confirm for me that I had returned 3 items, but I would have to "wait" the six weeks to get my return.

Then she got rude, and told me she wasn't the return department.  Okay, then why the hell did they put me through to YOU instead of the return department.  So inefficient, ineffective and useless. 

If and when I ever receive my exchange items, I will NEVER purchase another item from Newport News.  Furthermore I will go on a personal crusade to see that none of my friends or acquaintances are duped into buying from this total scam of a company.

And for you snippy little customer service people who have left your smart alec replies to previous complaints - just keep it up - you'll help run your company out of business and you won't have a job to whine about anymore!!

When Newport News decided they had time to send my exchange items, they charge me a higher price for the items! These items should have been an EVEN EXCHANGE - there was no price increase - they just arbitrarily decided to charge me MORE for the exact same items in a smaller size!  Furthermore, they never notified me via email of either receiving my return items or sending out the replacements, I had to do detective work to find this out on my own.  Still have not received the items even though their website says "shipped".  Waiting...

This unscrupulous company should be driven out of business!!

I'm filing a complaint with the BBB today. 

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH NEWPORT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Returns a Real Problem at Newport-News

I, too, am having problems with Newport-News. I have inquired four times about a return sent back to Newport-News on January 5, 2010. I've never had a problem in the past with this company, but I very disappointed how I am being treated regarding this refund. I was told by a customer rep in my first communication that it takes at least 6 weeks to process a return, but their website does say 30 days. A bloody, blatant contradiction!

Their company mantra is "At Newport-News, its simple to order and simple to send it back. If you are not satisfied, we will exchange or refund your purchase ... guaranteed!" They should add "Maybe, someday, when we feel like it."

I've ordered from this company for years and it's too bad their customer service has disappeared. They need to take a long, hard look at how they are effectively alienating their customers -- one by one.

I'll get a response this time,because I just filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau at www.norfolkapp.bbb.org. They have up to 30 days to respond. Oh, wait, that means 6 weeks.
