Coast To Coast Circulations, INC. Magazine Scam Michigan City Indiana

On January 29, 2009, I was sitting at my computer when there was a knock at the door. I answered the door to see a girl about my age and a guy claiming that they were going door to door selling magazines and who ever got the most at their college would get to go to the Bahamas. While she was talking to me my very hyper dog was bugging the heck out of me to get out of the door, so they asked to come in.

I let them in and I picked the Rolling Stone magazine which was $52.00. I thought that was a little much but went with it anyway. When I was going to right the check they said there was a $13.00 process and handling fee, so the check came to $65.00. I didn't think magazines should have a process and handling fee because they are supposed to come through the mail, but again I was very distracted at trying to keep my dog from jumping on them so I wrote the check so they would hurry and get out.

After they left I felt bad that I wrote the check because we are struggling for money and I just spent $65.00 on a stupid magazine. I was actually talking to a friend after that and he told me about his roommate that got scammed by a magazine door to door salesman. That made me even more suspicious.

The next day I told my husband about it and he said that magazines shouldn't have a processing and handling fee and strongly urged me to call my bank and cancel the check. So I called the bank and thank goodness that they didn't cash the check yet. I was able to cancel the check, which cost me $35.00, but that was better than wasting $65.00 on a crook.

I just wanted to let everyone know that you should not trust door to door salesman and if something like this happens to you call the cops.
