My daughter went on a trip to Greece and Italy with the Student Ambassador Program. I witnessed others in the group mocking limited abiity airport employees. That was embarassing. But later, after the trip had been over, my daughter received an invitation to go to France. She and I got time off our respective jobs to attend the meeting. We made a long drive there only to be told that she was too old now. That was angering and heart breaking, because of all the places in the world my daughter would choose to go, it would be France. The salt in the wound came recently in the form of another invitation. They want her to go to a meeting and tell other potential travelers what a valuable experience she had. And they dangle a trip to Japan in front of her. This letter was a reminder. Apparently she had trashed the original letter. She has not had her age go in reverse. If she was too old before, why send another invitation? The caliber of students that I know went on the trip with my daughter were not ones chosen for their standards of behaviour. It is up to the money you have or can get. They lead you to believe there is help. Don't get your hopes up. The kids in these groups are often trouble makers in real life. After the trip is over and you think there is no more contact they will resurface. The program seems great. Just remember that you need alot of money and there are not very nice students accompanying your kids. The other issue is that when you try to contact the program about things like this, it is very difficult. I tried to reach them but finding no live humans available, I "came here".
