I was contacted by a Miss Cook from Alliance One for a settlement of an outstanding credit card bill. We agreed on the phone to a 50% settlement, to be paid by installments monthly of 10% of that 50% balance. Despite four calls, Miss Crook would not provide documentation, and my credit card invoices continued to show my payments as payments off the total amount. I finally got a credit support agency to call this crook, and she denied any settlement and said that the whole amount was being paid off. I have subsequently stopped all payments given this breach of verbal contract. This agency generally, and Miss Crook specifically, are totally deceitful and unprofessional. DO NOT agree to any payment to them WITHOUT full written documentation FIRST. They are smooth, accomplished liars and tricksters.

Matter resolved by attorney

AUTHOR: Mickey - houston (United States of America)

I hired a Fair Debt Collection Practices attorney to represent me and they were able to obtain the necessary documents, and settle the matter finally and satisfactorily. I strongly suggest that others do that -- if you are not legally represented, they will take advantage of you. Do not pay them anything unless you have a written agreement in your hand that matches their verbal promise.
