This debt was with Amoco/ B.P Oil from mid 2001 for under $400.00.
A mix-up occured when Amoco became BP and I had 2 accounts.
On one account I had a zero balance and paid the other one off in full over 7years ago! To get to the point, I never herd a word or saw a unfavorable credit entry on my report from BP Until....................About 3 years ago I get a collection notice from Calvery Portfolio/NCO Collections, they are both the same company.
Then the phone calls soon arrived, last one was Christmas Eve 2008 and still the same story , pay now and we can offer you a deal!
And my response is the same" Please prove the amount owed".
Today was the straw that broke the camels back, after I checked my most recent credit report, I noticed that they re-aged the account back to May 2006 and after I informed them of this the reply was...That is when we took over the account. again I asked the agent show me the debt. Her answer was they can't as BP has been slow to furnish them the information.
I then asked if they could refrain from reporting to the credit bureau till valid information is received. Again the answer was No. Now her supervisor gets on the phone and starts with ...We are tired of this as we have sent you notices from both east and west coast and you have not replyed.
Again I said you have never shown me proof of the debt. A shouting match ensued and I hung up. My next call was to the New Jersey Dept. Of Consummer Law ( Attorney Generals Office) Note: Numerous complants under NCO. And today I will check with a good lawyer to bring suit against this bottom feeder of a company.
Can you believe this? my phone just rang and it was Calvary calling again!
I told her that it is in the hands of the State, she then asked, do you want to speak to my supervisor?
