As retired senior I want to enjoy my last days in Florida ,  in peace and quiet but Palisades Collection have been calling requesting payment of a Verizon debt dated 12-11-2002 for more than 600.00 dolars.   I asked them for a copy of the bill but I received an envelope with 8 pages of most blank paper with my name and my old add in New Jersey.  No info. or detailed of charges .   I went in to Verizon's web page but they dont have information from 10 years ago.   I am sick, old, diabetic 68 years old citizen living on Social Security only, with enough money to pay rent in  a subsided apartment by the goverment .  Impossible to afford a lawyers fees  what should I do?   Everytime the phone rings I am afraid to answer , just to think that is this collector  my blood pressure goes up , one of this days I will have an heart attack all because this unknow charges from more than 10 years ago... Any suggestion are welcome!!!!

VERIZON SOLD THE ACCOUNT...

AUTHOR: floridana - Fernandina Beach (United States of America)

I request a copy of my annual credit report and there is NOT any debt to VERIZON as Palisades Collection is calling about.   After contact them , I was told if I pay 300.00 of the 600.00 debt will be eliminated, that VERIZON have nothing to do now, because my old account was sold to PALISADES COLLECTION.

Here is what you need to do

AUTHOR: Tagurit - (USA)

Do not under any circumstances pay this.  The debt is past 7 years old so cannot affect your credit rating and is WAY beyond the Statute of Limitations.  If you have call block on your phone block the phone #.   If you pick up the phone and it is them tell them you will not pay and they are not to call you again - and record the call.  Do NOT provide them with any information about you or your situation under any circumstances.   Lastly send the following letter to the company calling you attempting to collect on this debt.  They are a third party bottom feeding company attempting to pursue a debt they legally have no right to pursue.  There is absolutely NOTHING they can do to you regardless of what they threaten.   Make sure you have kept a record of every call - record calls if you do happen to pick up the phone.

[Date]

[Your Address]

Dear [Collector]:

I am writing regarding your attempts to collect a debt of $XXX for Company name and account #XXX. I do not acknowledge the validity of this debt, which, in any case, is beyond the statute of limitations for collection.

In accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Sec. 805(c), I am requesting that you cease any further communication with me on this matter and discontinue phone calls. If I receive any further communication -- other than a written notice that further collection efforts are being terminated -- I will

(1)  Report you to the Attorney General of my State
(2)  Report your attorney’s of record to the State Bar Association and pursue disbarment for illegal pursuit of debt.
(3)  Sue you for violation of the provisions of the FDCPA.

Please keep in mind I am retired, I have the time to do this.  Additionally you will lose - period.  When you lose not only will you pay me $1,000 to $1,500 for each violation, you will pay any court and attorney costs I incur as well.  Go ahead, continue, really I could use the extra money.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
