I received a phone call from "Brandon" at this collection agency. All he left me was a call back number and a case number. I had no idea what it was about, so I called them. Brandon, as he called himself, said he was looking for a person and that my address was used for contact. I told him that the person he was looking for hadn't lived at the address for more than 3 years and I asked to have the number removed from their call or mail list. Brandon the started badgering about how I knew this person, where he was now, what his number is , etc. I told him I had no idea and that I wanted them to remove my number. Brandon stated that I better get use to his voice because he would call me 3 times a week until I told him what he wanted. I then got heated and told he guy he was invading my privacy and that he was a jerk. I believe his answer was get a life, and I'll subpoena you if I have to. I called back a bit later and spoke to Chris Allen, a manger. I told him what had happened and based on the way he spoke to me, I can see who trained Brandon! Several calls to Chris have gone unanswered. I have be told that there was no person by that name working there to one person that said he was a VP. I don't owe these guys anything and I pity anyone who has to deal with them. They are very arrogant and unprofessional.

How to handle wrong numbers

AUTHOR: Jae Millz - scranton (United States of America)

If it's a wrong number all you need to do is say "This is a wrong number,I dont know that person". Debt collectors get paid on commision, they have no reason to speak to you unless you are the debtor or their spouse or POA. Wrong numbers are a common everyday occurence, you need to be able to deal with them properly. If you said "well he/she is not here now,or they moved" of course the collector is going to pry for new contact information. Before you waste people's time writing rip off reports make sure you handle situations properly on your end.

The same happened to me and did this

AUTHOR: Steph - Minor Hill (USA)

A collection agency called my cell phone looking for another person. I told them they had the wrong # . The person I spoke to told me that my cell# would be removed from thier computer. Well that did not happen. They called again showing a regular # I did not answer but they did leave a message . I did this I put a block on thier # so they cannot call again.

When you tell an agency they have the wrong # they do not listen. If you have call block on your phone use it when these bill collectors call and on your cell if you have it.

#3 Consumer Suggestion

ACC Collections.

AUTHOR: Bobby - (USA)

Collection Agency's don't have the power to Subpoena you, or your records. That power comes from an attorney, or other legal authorities such as myself as a Supreme Court Judgment Enforcer. If you tell them not to continue to call you they must abide by your wishes, or face charges by the FTC, or a civil suit filed by you. I wouldn't tell them by phone though. Make an official request by return signature letter. This way you have proof. You may even record your conversation.
