AFNI, Inc Afni sends me a fraudulent 10 year old Contel of the South bill for $146.29 Internet

I received a bill dated 8/30/08 from Afni, Inc for $146.29. The "original creditor" is Contel of the South. I called Afni and was spoken to very rudely. The man told me it was an old landline phone bill from 1998. I asked for an original copy from the original creditor so that i could validate this debt before i would pay it. I also told him that there were reports all over the internet that they were a fraudulent company that had done this to other people, so i wanted proof and a phone number of the company that they would be sending my payment to. I have PERFECT credit and was sure that this just wasn't right.

He got very angry and told me that people were just pissed off that they got found and had to pay their bills. He then offered to settle my debt for an immediate credit card payment of $73.00. I was very surprised by that. He said i better pay it now because the next time i call in to pay the bill the next person might not give me such a great discount. HUH??? I said who exactly are you going to give this $73.00 to? Contel of the South doesn't exist anymore! He got mad and said he would mail me a copy of the bill from Verizon. Another HUH?

If you get a bill from Afni do your homework, don't just pay them!!!!
