Unfair and deceptive business practices. They violated numerous FDCPA. First a guy named VJ called my wife's house to discuss a debt with American express. He threatened her with a judgement.
Then I decided to take over. He called me 5 times in a row every half.. I took the call, I was in negotations with him, returned all his call.. then he tracks down my dad in California, calls him every half hour and discusses my debt. I called him to confront him and he denied it. Eventually he admitted that he did call and calls me a liar.
I have sent a cease and desist letter on Aug. 23rd and he continues to call and harasses me. He acknowledged he got it but he will continue calling to harass me. He then had someone in pre-litigation call me to settle the debt. These people harasses and breaks every single violation you can imagine.

Once you send the cease and desist letter, provided it states they cannot contact you in any way i.e. phone, mail, etc... they cannot make contact with you. I'm not sure about their legal folks, they might be able to if they initiate legal proceedings against you. Report them. Sue them.

send another seace and decist letter. This time send it Fed Ex or some other kind of overnight REGISTTERD mail... that way you have documented proof that it was recieved. When i worked at the Columbus office (which is corporate headquarters) if i recieved a ceace and decist letter by regular mail? Oops its in the trash... must have been lost in the mail. Also there is no VJ in that office...

Here's a sure fire way to get them off your back. Pay your damn bills either before they go to collections or properly work with collections to pay them. YOU are in the wrong here. They provided goods or services and you've not paid for it yet. Stop being a part of the problem and create a solution instead of bellyaching about "ooooh, they call me all the time and interrupt my stories".......yeah, collection agencies can be agressive, demeaning, and pains in the asses, but that's their job...obviously you haven't done YOUR job to pay your bills on time
