We recently received a collection notice from this company trying to collect a debt of $426.34 allegedly charge to my wife under her maiden name in 1988 for purchases made in NY state to an unknown vendor. My wife has no recollection of this balance and was in Florida in 1988 and has never been to NY state.

A force credit check was discovered on her Transunion report but no record of any default or past due balances dating of this nature exists on any of the 3 credit bureau reports. Contact was made immediately upon receipt of the notice but no detailed infomation about the debt was offered and the rep was very rude in trying to get my wife to pay this debt over the phone.
