Asset Acceptance, Hurley State Bank Trying to collect on a debt I never had New York New York

I received a letter in the mail from an attoney's office stating I owed some $2,251.60 in an old debt, but they would settle for a mere $900.60, so i called them up.

The letter was in my old married name from 8 years ago, They appear to out source their calls as i spoke with people not from this country, it was difficult to understand the man or his supervisor who I requested to speak to to try and find out about this debt. he would only tell me it was 12 years old and had been written off and was on my credit report,

well I recently bought a home and started my own business and assured him this debt was not on my credit report this must be an error, he then became extremily rude to me and said if i was disputing it then I could pay the full balance...

long story short, I called back, reached a nice woman and gave then a check by phone at the request of my boyfriend to resolve the old debt we thought my ex husband probably had in my name. I also faxed them a request for more info on the debt so i could investigage it further. She told me it was probably an old radio shack debt, well i never, ever had an account in my life with them and thought it must be my ex- husbands.

I then searched the company and saw all of the awful info on the fraud. so I called my bank and put a stop payment on the check immediatley. They had my ssn which is what got me, please do not be fooled. These people are very clever.
