THEN AGAIN THE MORNING THEY TOLD ME BECAUSE OF THIS PAYDAY LOAN THE POLICE WILL BE AT MY DOOR TO ARREST ME.

Ellis Crosby has filed bankruptcy and has many legal worries right now. The Attorney General in Flordia has file lawsuits against them and you need to immediately report them to the AG in Florida on the call you received. They are not allowed to do business anymore. They think they are above the law! I received a call from them in August and was threatened with my husband being arrested and our children taken away. I immediately called the sheriffs department and the responding officer called them and informed them that they were in violation of FDCPA and that they can not legally threaten anyone. A police report was filed and sent to the attorney general in Florida along with the complaint. Don't let them scare you.

I had a pending law suit against this company. My attorney called me a few months ago and said there was nothing really that could be done because they were shut down by the FTC. They have violated a lot of laws. He said they will end up opening another collection agency in another name and contiue the same practices they were doing before. You have rights. You can to to the Federal Trade Commissions web site. All third party collection agencies have to follow the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If they don't, you can sue them. There is no debtors prison. The worst that can happen to you would be wage garnishment. And that has to be allowed in the state that you live in. You have to be sued and given the right to dispute any debt prior to that happening! Don't sweat bill collectors. They are just trying to make a living to end up in hell!

I filed a complaint agaisnt them in 2005 through the WV Attorney General. I got a copy of a letter last month that my states AG office sent to the attonrey for EC & Associates asking him to refund any outstanding funds they may owe me...WE CAN do something about harassing debt collectors! go to fcc.gov or the BBB and file a complaint, and let's get these illegal collection agencies shut down!
