These people need to be stopped. I have an attorney handling a debt I owe and this company has continually called my home, my ofice, MY NEIGHBORS AND MY EMPLOYER! They also claim they have a legal department and they are going to sue me "soon." They are just a vicious, uncaring collection agency. I sent them a cease contact letter and they just keep calling everyone I know. This is embarrasimg and I could lose my job. They call my office at least twice a day.

send a stop communications letter

AUTHOR: Steph - Minor Hill (U.S.A.)

Send them a stop communications letter certified. One they receive that letter they can no longer contact you at home or your place of employment by phone or letter. If they do you can sue them for harassment. I sent a letter like that to 2 collection agancies and I never heard from them after they got the letter. 1 was calling me every 15 minuites

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Incorrect

AUTHOR: Robert - Buffalo (U.S.A.)

""One they receive that letter they can no longer contact you at home or your place of employment by phone or letter""

Incorrect. Once they receive the "stop communications" letter they are allowed by the FDCPA to contact you one more time to inform you what action they are going to take, i.e. forward to creditor, sue, close file, etc.

READ the FDCPA at www.ftc.gov

#3 Update By Author

Correct.

AUTHOR: Leslie - Preston (U.S.A.)

The cease contact did NOT work. They IGNORED IT. I know th law and they defy it all the time.

Cease letter

AUTHOR: Dani - Clive (U.S.A.)

Did you sent it certified? Can you prove they got it? If not, send another one certified. As long as you can prove it, they can't argue but if you can't prove it, they can continue. For that matter, your attorney should be sending that letter on his letterhead. That's all you really pay an attorney for anyway is their letterhead.
