I first contacted Hunt and Henriques on my birthday, August 12th 2008, because I received a letter stating that I would be sued for $1511.00 if I did not call to make payment arrangements. I called and spoke with a young woman who at the time seemed nice and cooperative. I initially offered to pay $75.00 a month towards my debt because I am currently unemployed. The young woman immediately declined my offer and told me I would need to pay a $378.00 downpayment towards my debt, then have $110.00 debited from my account monthly for the next twelve months. The woman told me that I should try to find the money from a family member or friend, and then call her within the next ten days.

I must admit I did not call the woman back because my attempts to borrow the money failed. On August 29th 2008 at approximately 8:30am, I received a phone call from the same woman, asking for this payment. I told her once again that I am unemployed, and I am currently attending CSUSB for my major and SBVC to receive a pharmacy technician certificate. I explained to the woman that I am currently taking 22 units this semester, I have a one year old child, the only income I have is financial aid. Well she told me to give her my financial aid money. When I declined, she asked if I have a car, I told her I drive my father's car, she then told me to tell my father to stop paying his car payment and give her the money to resolve my debt. I once again declined, and then she told me to call my father on three way and allow her to explain the severity of the situation. Once again I declined, and this is when the woman started to attack my integrity and underestimate my intelligence. She accused me of not caring about the situation; she accused me of being nonchalant; and she tried to threaten me by saying, "no one will hire you as a pharmacy technician if we place a judgement against you. Especially since you would have to work with money and drugs."

I really felt that this woman tried to make me feel like I was some kind of drug addict or something. I explained to the woman that before I lost my job, I paid all of my bills on time, so I told her stupid butt not to down talk to me. I understand that I owe a debt, but when does someone have the right to decline an offer, then turn around and harass me.

Nevertheless, I suggest those who have been affected report the firm to the BBB, the California Bar association, and whatever other agencies/associations that will help stop the harassment.

If she continues to harass, I will report the agency to the attorney general for violating the FCPA.
