MCM has called me numerous times to collect on a paid in full, closed account. Each call is for a different amount due and requests for a full accounting of charges and payments on the account in question go unanswered.
June 2009 I sent a letter to their Pennsylvania office and threatened to proceed with the "applicable remedies afforded to me under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, including all remedies provided under Section 16:92". I also threatened to pursue additional remedies since their agents told me they knew this debt shows as negative on my credit report. Isn't it is illegal to access another person's credit report?
Today, August 19, 2009, I received yet another call from MCM. I asked why they had not responded to my June letter. The agent's response was that I sent the letter to an office that did not update files! What? I again requested a full accounting and was told I must prove it is paid in full. That is not my understanding of a disputed bill.
The agent finally gave me their "headquarter" address as P.O. Box 60578, Los Angeles, CA. I'm sending this letter via certified mail and will have my attorney friend send one for me also.
