Four years ago these people lost their house in a sheriffs sale. Someone bought it, fixed it up (they trashed it) and we bought it from them.

I am getting calls now (I have in the past from other debtors) from MCM Collections. I, as well as my husband, have told them this person doesn't live here, hasn't lived here for years. THEY KEEP CALLING. They call early in the morning and late at night. ALL DAY. Weekends... I can't get them to stop. I've spoken with a "supervisor" and he was very accusatory in his tone, asking personal information about me. I told him that i was not her, that they need to stop calling and I am not going to give ANY personal information to people with such terrible business ethics. I said I'm the owner of this house, they can look it up in public records.

I don't know how to get these people to stop harassing my family.

DO IT CORRECTLY - YOU GET BETTER RESULTS

AUTHOR: Laurie - Haslet (U.S.A.)

It may not be your debt - but you still have to follow processes that get results.

FIRST OF ALL - QUIT TALKING TO THEM - You have failed to figure out that talking to them is NOT GETTING THEM TO STOP!

Send via certified letter - return receipt requested a CEASE COMMUNICATIONS letter demanding they remove your phone number and to stop calling for the other person. The return receipt is your proof it was received,

IF THEY CONTINUE TO CALL after receiving the letter - YOU CAN SUE! in small claims court. $1000 for you + they pay court costs, so your initial filing fees will be returned.
You do need to log all calls received (time, date and name of caller) and if they leave messages save those as well. You need that in court.

if ROR removes the link - search on Bud Hibbs on the internet

First, check your rights as a consumer with the Federal Trade Commission. Send a certified letter to the company requesting them to stop harassing you. If this continues, file a complaint with the FTC and Consumer Protection Agency and file a motion with your local court

#6 Consumer Suggestion

sue them i did to a company

AUTHOR: Duane - Lake Worth (U.S.A.)

i had this problem with client service calling me for someone else and the even let me know this person owed them 64 dollars. i called collection stoppers, they filed a suite for me free of charge and took client service for 3,000.00 dollars of which i recieved a 1000.00. i have no problems send in a lawyer to those who breakk the law by not stopping calls and bugging people for debt that dose not belong to them.

good luck and happy hunting
