    Corporate Advocacy Program
We are reporting on MJ Hecker and Associates as fraudulant and verbally abusive collection agency, that claims it is a company of legal attorneys and advisors.
We were paying on a Medical bill with them; and working out a settlement amount with them to complete the Medical cost; and in fact had recently sent in another payment to them on December 29th; as agreed in a voicemail left to their office on December 19,2008. We received a very rude and nasty call from a Gordon in their office; very verbally abusive and aggresive with both my husband and I; who would not listen to our explanation of when the payment was sent in; and that we are both unemployed and striving to pay off our medical bills.

He,Gordon, threatened that if we did not "stop payment on our check that was in the mail right away, and make a payment by phone, that he and his "law firm" would take us to court, if the payment was not made in the office by 5 pm on December 31,2008."

We explained that the payment is in the mail; and that it is too costly to stop payment, and it will be there shortly. He raised his voice and yelled at both my husband and I and said this is not good enough, that if the payment is not in the office by 5 pm; it is going to court; and told my husband that he "is NOT an attorney,(as he told me earlier) but a legal advisor"; and then rudely hung up on us immediately.

To say the least, we are stopping the payments to them, for we are wondering if anyone else who has dealt with them is considering or has set up a class action suit against this company? We do agree that their doors should close; and they be stopped from continuous harassment; emotional distress; illegally claiming to be an attorney firm; and illegally trying to force clients to "stop payment on their checks that are already in the mail, for more money than is needed. Let's work together to stop them.

By the way, we are not sure now where our payments are going; for there has not been a great noticable decrease in the balance showing with them for the last 1.5 years we have been dealing with them. Note: My husband almost suffered a heart attack as a result of this call due to his great stress from talking with this rude Gordon.!! Let's end this now!

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Pay your bill on time like you agreed to in the first place...

AUTHOR: Evetsrialb - Denver (U.S.A.)

Youre probably accruing interest either that you agreed to when you created the debt or the statutory rate the state allows them to charge you...That is why you do not see the reduction in your balance that youd like...When you take "1.5" +years to pay a debt you agreed to pay in full when services were rendered or when the merchandise was receieved, it costs the collection agency and the original creditor money to service and maintain the account you agreed to pay in full in the first place... Collection agencies and collection attorneys provide very specific instructions as to how to forward your payments and get YOUR DEBT resolved in the quickest possible manner...If you chose to ignore those instructions, you will run into these problems...Doing it your way got you to this point...Why not try listening to someone else for a change??? Your situation will most likely improve... And if your that concerned about where your money is going, Im sure the original creditor would be glad to confirm that your fears are unfounded...If, that is, you havent angered the original creditor to a point they do not wish to communicate with you... And by the way, Mr Hecker is a real live attorney in good standing with the Colorado Bar...
