In August 2011, I pulled my free annual credit reports. I was excited because I had paid off a lot of stuff and thought "finally we can apply for that mortgage loan" NOT!!! There was an entry on both Experian and Trans Union reports from Trident Asset Management. Apparently at some point in 2005 I opened an account with BMG, funny, I don't recall doing this, nor do I recall ever receiving any cd's or cassettes!
So I immediately disputed with the CRAs, which of course came back as "verified". I wonder how they do this since I don't even know who this company is and I know dam* well I didn't open this account with BMG. So I fired off a DV letter to this Trident Asset Management company.
I received a response telling me my (nonexistant) account was purchased by OPS 10, LLC but that I could continue to contact Trident in regard to this account and that "Due to the special circumstances regarding your account, once paid we will send a delete transaction to all credit bureaus within 30 days so that this account can be removed from your credit history." Really? Sounds like blackmail to me! Not to mention, if OPS 10 now owns the account, why would I contact Trident to talk about it and why would I send any money to Trident if they don't own the account? All sounds a bit fishy to me.
Conveniently, BMG is now out of business so it's impossible to contact them to prove that I don't owe this money, I've tried, and all the phone numbers are out of service, letters are returned to sender. So the big question now is, what do I do? Where do I go from here?
I want this off my reports, but at the same time, why should I pay money that I know I don't owe? How many other people are being scammed this exact same way? This is absurd! I've again disputed it with the CRAs, but I've also filed a complaint with the GA Governor's office of consumer protection (normally you'd complain to the attorney general but in GA, apparently it's different). If you are going through the same situation, I suggest you file a complaint with them as well at this link http://consumer.georgia.gov/consumer-services/filing-a-complaint. I'm hoping they will get to the bottom of this.
As a last resort, just to get it off my report, I may just pay the $71.55, but the concern with that is this whole Trident/OPS 10 thing. I'm afraid I'll pay Trident and then have OPS come after me for the same debt or vice versa. I'm absolutely disgusted!!!
And the government wonders why people are blowing up buildings and killing each other! This is why, because everyone wants their hands on our money ... our hard earned money that we bust our humps for, they want to take what isn't theirs, what isn't owed to them. Ugh

I previously stated that I disputed with Experian and TransUnion. Experian somehow "verified" and TransUnion deleted the account. I haven't heard back from the consumer complaint office in GA yet, however, I did also file a complaint with the BBB. I received a ridiculous response saying I had to supply an account number, which I don't have, being that all I had was what was provided on my credit report. I responded telling them this. They then claimed I had to telephone them, haaaa NO WAY I'm communicating with these scum suckers via telephone, I stated I wanted everything in writing, either through the BBB or via USPS. They claimed I was being uncooperative and the BBB closed the complaint. I then re-opened it, as I found a full account number on 3 bureau report from Privacy Guard. I'm now waiting to hear back from Trident to see what they have to say. I made it clear that I'm not backing down from this, no matter what, because I know for 100% sure that I did not initiate an account with BMG. I also advised that complaints have been filed with the GA consumer complaint board and I also just now filed a complaint with the PA Attorney General (my home state), And I will take whatever measures necessary to get this off my report, disregard my prior statement that I may just pay them, because I am NOT giving them a penny of my money for a debt that I don't owe!
If you know you don't owe them money, FIGHT IT TOOTH AND NAIL! Don't let them bully you, bully back!!! It's your money, you work hard for it and you shouldn't be paying on debts you don't owe!

I had previously filed a complaint with the BBB regarding this company, as stated above. I received notice a few days ago that the account has been closed and request has been sent to the CRAs to delete the tradeline. As I stated previously, if you know you don't owe them money, fight them! Good will always prevail. Best of luck!

This same thing is happening to me right now! They claim I had an account with BMG. I have had a account with Netflix for years! Why would I even open an account with BMG?! This is like trying to find a needle in a hay stake. I actually emailed BMG and they tell me my "account" was sold to Orion Portfolio. I asked how can they sell an "account" that was never opened by me?! They said they can't help me and to contact Orion. But meanwhile my credit report states this bogus Trident company. And I bought a car back in June and this wasn't on my report but now it just appeared!! Makes NO sense! Any suggestions on where to go???

I would like to thank you for taking the time to warn us all about Trident Asset Management I am a victim of them as well. I had to contact them first they never made an attempt to contact me to the best of my knowledge. I was just going to pay them and try and buy my house but what you have said has made me think twice. So I would like to thank you and say sorry that you had to go through all of this but thank you for sharing your story to help others.
