United Collections Bureau improper collection tactics Toledo Ohio

The first call I received, someone left a cryptic message on my answering machine about an urgent matter than I needed to resolve before Friday August 3rd. I called this company back and after being on hold I was told that I owed money for a citicards visa that had been charged off. I never once said that I was unwilling to pay or cooperate. When the woman told me that there was no way she was going to accept 32 dollars on a 1000 balance ( I have NO idea where she came up with the 32 dollar figure) I tried to explain to her that I was unable at this time to make a 30% (360 dollars) payment. She said that this is a DEBT and that she would find ways to take care of it.

Now let me reiterate the fact that she would NOT listen to me. She would NOT let me try and explain that I have been making 55 dollar payments through my credit consolidation company for five years..faithfully. EVERY time I tried to speak she interupted me. She told me that at this moment she was drawing up the paperwork to send to my employer about garnishing my wages, and that due to the fact that I refused to comply with them, she said that I had better get a lawyer because I would be hearing from theirs. When I tried to say that I wasn't being uncompliant, she hung up on me. I was stunned and upset, and I felt like crying. I had never been so insulted and demeaned in my entire life.

I called back and spoke to supervisor Shelia Hawkins ( I found her number on the internet). I explained to her what happened, all she did was put me on hold and transfer me to another collection agent who was just as rude and unwilling to listen. WHen she asked me what my plan was, I explained to her that I had asked my credit consolitation company (Care One Credit) to send them a proposal. She snorted and said something along the lines of "well good luck with that because we do not deal with them..but go on.."
