I'am a loan officer and i also fix credit. I was told by Penny Walls, the collector, when my clients pays off there debt I would recieve a specific letter indicating that west asset management is willing to come off the credit report. I repeatedly stated this to the collector over "6" times in our many conversations to make sure we were on the same page. This is a letter that I needed to remove West Asset Management from my clients credit report, that I never gave me. They lied to get the bill paid. Then Her manager, Landi Valentine said she will review the conversation and call me back. She called me back and said she her agent didnt say that she could provide that type of letter. I asked her for her Corp. Office number and she refused to give it to me and put me on hold for 15 min to come back with her Directors nam and number Mark Demoe 903-891-7189, which I called already "6" times, and left messages. Until now no return phone call. My client is purchasing a house. There rent lease is up at the end of Septemer. Time is of the essence. Question: This not my first time fixing credit. I understand how the procedure works. If the collector told me that they couldnt provide me with the letter that I need to remove West Asset Management from the credit report Why would I pursue both my client to pay the bill and West Asset Management with making sure they will provide the proper letter. I was instructed from the credit company that i use to pull credit, on the letter that i needed to move forward. So in closing, They knew exactly what i was asking for and THEY LIED TO GET THE BILL PAID AND I NEED THAT LETTER AND SOME ACTION TAKEN AGAISNT THE FRAUDULENT TACTICS BEING USED BY THIS COMPANY IN ORDER TO GET BILLS PAID

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Devin, this is exactly why you stay off the phone!!

AUTHOR: Steve - Bradenton (U.S.A.)

Devin,

This is exactly the reason you never speak to a third party debt collector on the phone! Phone calls never existed as soon as there is a dispute or lawsuit.

ALWAYS get it in wriring!!

This is just common sense.
That was a rookie move.

FYI...I was in the mortgage business too. You could have gotten around that bad debt in most cases. It is called a "lender exception". All you have to do is have your client write a letter for the underwriter.

Also, paying off a bad debt / collection account will NOT remove it from the persons credit file. By law, a negative item is on there for 7 years as a minimum.

Never talk to the bottomfeeder!!

WHO IS THE CLIENT

AUTHOR: 8years Collecting - RUther Glen (U.S.A.)

I am an employee of WAM, I dont know who Penny Walls is but she probably works in another office. I do apploigize for the lack of attention you and your client have received it is not WAMs intention on giving you the idea that we send letters to debtors who pay off their debt. Now their may have been a misunderstanding in communications. Scenario 1 , your client was told that we can give a "pay off letter" which allows you to see what the pay off would be to allow your client a final balance. I will state to you that it is probably best to contact their original client to obtain the letter you are seeking because the contract that I work only allows us to send a pay off letter and to tell the debtor that the client will send a letter with in 60 to 90 days of pay off. You also have to look at it this way. That depending on the Listing date ( arrival at west ) that the number of times that you client had time to pay the bill then waited untill it was important to him/her to pay the bill. Now I am not saying this is what has happened, but it is most common. I hope this helps, because I will tell you I am a unique Collections Rep. I dont believe in some practices of OCAs because it gives good OCAs a bad rep and and bad name.
