I enterred DeVry as a Transfer Student in October, 2007. My Transcripts were all submitted within one week. The Valey Forge Dean calculated all of my Transfer Credits and created a course plan for the classes I would have to take to graduate. In January my transfer credits were still not posted.
The transcripts were apparently misfiled at Fort Washinton, not to be found until August, 2008 when I really started complaining after spending months being told the system would be updated and it never was. Along with the lack of credits in the system, someone decided I was a Freshman and put my Senior Loans on hold back in October, 2007. As of August, they were still telling me I was a Freshman even though the transcripts were found and finally in the system. they continued to refuse to release my loans.
Because my loans were on hold, they started charging me fees on the balance of my tuition that they refused to accept payment for. Some of thse fees have been recredited, but now, in December, 2008, they continue to charge me late fees. hey can no longer release the hold they put on my loans and the money is basically gone leaving me with a $3,000 + balance and late fees.
I graduated in October and am now a Graduate student because they promised in August they could fix this. Now they are telling me I have to take less Graduate classes so they can use my Graduate loans to pay the Undergrad balance that they caused through their own errors that they refused to fix through eight months of my phone calls. My Graduate Degress completion is now going to be delayed by their incompetence.
Beyond all of this, I also found outr today, one week before the end of the first Fall session, that they didn't ask for the full amount of my Graduate loans to cover me taking three or more classes per semester anyway. So my plans would have been screwed up regardless. Now they are taking Grad loan money to pay their Undergrad screw up and they planned to screw up my Grad goals from the word go anyway.
These people are completely incompetent and I have had enough. Once they fix the balance through whatever loan issue they finally figure out how to use, I am transferring to a real school where their Finacial Aid is actually handled in house and they are capable of fixing their mistakes in short order instead of letting them go so long they can no longer get the money back. What a nightmare.
