I attend the UOP. And like everyone else it was great in the beginning. My enrollment counselor is actually a great guy and I think he is totally oblivious to what his fellow colleagues are doing.
My first two classes were good. They were stupid and easy and they only reason why I didn't get A's is because they wanted me to respond to a discussion question over and over again. I got bored. Some are educated and some aren't. So I got tired of responding to other uneducated people.
My next two classes were okay until I got towards the end. I was getting evicted from my home and missed out on a few assignments so my grades dropped drastically. Well I picked them up and turned in one of my finals and my instructors decided that a machine not a person, a machine said I plagiarized because she submitted my paper threw a plagiarism checker. She said that the similarities were too close so she gave me a 0/250. Now a week before I turned in my final I had to turn in the body paragraphs to assignment to the instructor and it had to be put through the plagiarism checker by me. After submitting it it said I only had 15% similarities. But I also had quotes so when you take the quotes I only had a 4% similarities. She graded my paper and told me she liked my work and loved how I tied my original words in with statistics and after I fix a few things I will have a great paper.
So I was obviously surprised with the grade that she gave me and the accusations that she made against me. I compared both papers, my final and my rough draft. After reading both, they are the same. What I wrote in one, I wrote in the other. So my question is why is it okay on one and not okay on the other? How do you praise me for my originality one week and then the next week I plagiarized and you fail me. Its like she's Bi-polar, as if it wasn't her responding. Now I would assume any normal instructor would want to speak to the student about this matter before even grading them to see if someone is misunderstanding something. She posted my grade and told me it was a pleasure to have me in class and good luck on my future endeavors?????????????? WTF????? Are you serious. There goes that bi polar thing again. Number one it was an expository essay which is a how to process or facts about a specific topic. So that means there will be more research than opinions and I had a citation page after. This goes to show and prove that my paper that I worked hard on wasn't read. I can be an instructor if that's all you have to do.
So when contacting my academic counselor he immediately accuses me, asking me if I was doing my work correctly and its in my best interest to speak to instructor via e-mail because they cant do anything. I asked her if we could speak about my grade and she got back to me and said she was busy and there is no deadline for my grade and she will get back to me later.
This means I failed the class. And because I failed the class they put me on academic probation because fell below my required GPA. I understood why I was placed on probation and I was okay with that until they resolved the issue and saw that I was innocent and did not plagiarized but then they place me on financial probation. So this means they held my financial aide. This wasn't correct and no one was looking into fixing it. No where under any catalog for the UOP does it say they can hold my financial aide. It actually states that while on academic probation you are still suppose to receive you disbursements as longs as you don't fall under 9 credits. And I have nothing to be put on financial probation. my stupid academic counselor and financial counselor said that I haven't reached 16 credits and that's why I was put on financial probation. It also states how you are suppose to be put on financial probation if i am suspended from my classes.I am not suspended. I only failed one class and that's not official. And when I was talking to my counselor he said it was in my best interest that he suspend me from my classes because he doesn't think I can finish my other classes because I failed one class(this means they get to keep MY money). So he was going to pull me out of school. Then I told him I already posted attendance in both classes already and his whole tone changed and he then says stay in your classes and do all of your work so u can get a higher GPA. I asked him what do you guys do to the instructor when they wrongfully accuse a student, he said they get coaching. I told him plagiarism is serious and no one should be falsely accused and the accuser gets away with it. he laughed
Now anyone who goes to UOP knows most of the course are worth 3 credits. I have taken a total a total of 4 classes which equals 12 credits. but since I failed one class I only have 9. If u count by threes after 12 comes 15 after comes 18. So where does his dumb self get 16 from. and to think they are over my money!!!!!!! I haven't even been in school long enough to receive that many credits because I haven't taken enough classes. Then when I said that didn't make sense he agreed, the said yeah I understand buts that's the way it is.
I kept asking both counselors because I made them conference in. Tell me where in axia policy and catalog does it say that. They couldn't find it but ensured me it was there. And everything he found and he asked me to read it didn't apply to me and they just got quiet. I explained with anger that this is my money under my credit and they have no right to hold it or place me on financial probation for failing one class. Are you kidding me. You cant do that. it says so in their catalog. nothing in their catalog places me under financial probation. Not only that, they keep telling me how i have to pay them back for a class that i failed where my grade is unofficial.
My counselor insisted on how I better appreciate that they are speaking with me over the phone because they don't have to and realize all the things they are doing for me. I was also told that i could see if my instructor would talk to me if she felt like it because she wasn't obligated to. He said that I better be professional when talking to the instructor and not to waste their time becaue he was sure they had better things to do than to speak with me. I told him needed to find something else out about this class because I don't believe my instructor was a real person. I would ask questions about feedback and she would only send a response of the grading rubric with no response. I asked why do they do that and he said because maybe they don't understand what I'm asking. Then he hung up in my face. The other counselor said he had to leave because it was his lunch. Then told me good luck. My academic counselor told me he though we should get off the phone because he felt like there was nothing else to talk about because he said we were going in circle. I asked for a director for academic affairs because i was falsely accused and the plagiarism checker is not accurate and i can prove it. he would tell me anything. He said i will receive a letter in the mail and go from there. If my grade wasn't changed i would have to have a hearing and yes its via phone. No human And I again explained that he still cant show or prove to me why they are holding my money and he hung up in my face.....and he is a counselor. HA!!!!! But before he hung up he says "its not your money technically, you got an F don't you remember?"
In conclusion, yes they are rip off artist. They are trying to keep my money wrongfully under the assumption that I can't read or I don't read before I speak. They are doing to me what they have done to all those people on this site who are already in collections for something that shouldn't be there. They never answer the phone and are rude and expect me to praise them for talking to me as if it isn't their job. They told me they didn't have to talk to me and there are other students that have problems and they have the opportunity to have me resolve this on my own. The Accreditation Board calls this a University? The government needs to find out about this. And I will tell. I plan on going to news stations this week and speaking my mind and telling them about what goes on with people grant money and who they are treated and how we have robots for teachers.

The sad part is that even if you do graduate from U of P the degree is a known joke. Industry knows just how much of a joke the classes are, and will laugh at your resume. I suggest you cut your losses and attend a real school where the degree means something and demands respect.

A person who is 100% confident in their paper would never even send it to the Plaigiarism checker. Even the 4% is way too much similarity for a college student. This whole problem started because you cheated and got caught. I hope they can give you a second chance, as UofP is a perfectly legit school.

Before attending UoP I had wondered, "How accredited is this University?" I got my answer. I found more than 10 persons who have 6 figure incomes and work in administrative positions for one of the largest medical care providers in the nation. The University of Phoenix and its degrees are highly accredited and accepted. I will assume that you and/or someone you know didnt make it to far in UoP if they even attended at all.
The educational program guides students into the online learning environment. The first 2-4 classes are of ease and generally dont really relate to the degree being sought after. After this introduction, for which your are given college credits, you begin work in your actual area of study. Please do not bring your opinions to the table without a background for them to stand on.
Thirdly, I myself had some life crisis go on during my first two classes. I failed one of them and was on academic probation. Now, my advisor are superb and assured me i would still be getting my other disbursement/s. Academic probation is a probationary period where your progress is monitored over the course of the next few classes to ensure you bring your grades up.
As for the plagiarism, I am sure that is instructor dependent. They do use software for checking this. Heres the kicker. Should you review the policy on plagiarism, you will find that if you properly cite your sources and give credit where it is do in your work... plagiarism isnt an issue.
You should always approach someone who has control over your money, (like it or not, they do, YOU SIGNED THE PAPERS!) with a sense of professionalism and respect. They do not HAVE to do anything for you. They can be just as disrepectful as you.
With that said I am a proud student at UoP and currently have a job which I in part gained simply because I am attending UoP in a mutual feild of study as related to my work place.

University of Phoenix degrees are likely to be worthless. No one takes them seriously and if you are making six figures with a UOP degree then it is because you got the degree for a promotion.

University of Phoenix degrees are likely worthless. If you are making six figures as a UOP grad it is because you already are working at the employer and getting a promotion.
