Hi, everyone.
i bought an item on 2-2-2010 from a member on ebay by the name of cowboom, the ebay auction says FREE shipping but when i went to pay with paypal the price went from $625.00 to $662.50 this person is charging me sales tax and i live in a different state.
i asked them if they have a tax id number to send it to me but there was no responce for days, they never answered my six emails.
i told them i refuse to pay tax unless you are a businedd with a tax ID.
there is no reason why they can no send me the tax ID number.
i`m wondering if it is againsed the law to charge sales tax with out a tax ID.

Cowboom.com or "cowboom" the ebay seller clearly advertises on their listings that they charge sales tax in all states.
Cowboom is actually owned by Best Buy, and as a result they have tax nexus in all states where they have a Best Buy store. In the "checkout section on all Cowboom ebay listings is says: "sale tax will be charged for shipments to all states."
All ebay listings (regardless of who is selling the item) also have a link under the "Payments and shipping" tab that indicates where a seller will charge sales tax.

Cowboom is not a person, Cowboom is a division of Dealtree, which was acquired by Best Buy in 2008. The customer service department for Dealtree is in California. Best Buy and Dealtree have warehouses all over the country.
