In November of 2009, I went into a SPRINT store to find out what I would be charged to change to AT&T as far as early termination. The representative took my number and told me the only early termination fee was one one of my two phones lines and would be about $120 dollars.
After transferring two lines (one to AT&T and one to Verizon), and replacing my aircard with one from AT&T, I called to pay my final bill. I was told that in fact my AirCard was the only account due an early termination, and that it would be $150. I complained about getting erroneous information earlier, and was told that the most they would do would be to credit my account the $35 restocking fee for the AT7T AirCard.
So, I returned the AT&T aircard and decided to stay with the Sprint AirCard until my contract expired. When I went to pay my AIrCard bill, I saw that I had a $273 dollar balance, since apparently now I was being charged $200 early termination on my phone line.
When I contacted SPRINT they gave me littany of long winded justifications on why thier employees had given me incorrect information, and basically refused to help me. They bascially called me a liar becuase thier "...account notes" did not reflect any of what I was saying.
When I asked if they were calling me a liar, they hemmed and hawed. I didn't really get any reaction from them until I explained that the second conversation had been on thier web chat interface, and that they had sent me a TRANSCRIPT of the entire conversation, which of course I still had attached to an email from customer service. I assured them that if they could not modify these charges, I would cancel my AirCard as well, and if they sent me a bill for the combined $350 cancellation fee, I would take it and the transcript of my conversation with their employee to a lawyer.
They quickly connected me to a manager who said they could no longer speak to me because I was threatening legal action. At this point, I requested that they terminate my account completely, bill me whatever they saw fit, and I would dispute it through legal means.
Bottom Line, SPRINT is the worst celllular provider out there in terms of picking your pocket with little charges and fees, and they have perfected screwing the customer with a smile on thier face down to a science. I advise anyone considering service with SPRINT to try smoke signals or two cans and a string before making this mistake. I know none of these companies are angels, but SPRINT is Lucifer himself.
