Computertraining.com ripoff Annapolis Junction Maryland

Computer Trainning only care about taken students money. (Also it will take forever to pay it off) I live in Waldorf have to travel to Annapolis Junction to go to the school on Tuesday and Thursday. That was hell on me leave at work at 4pm be there by 6pm get out the school at 10pm and be home at 12pm.

There should be more hands on, and more mastermind homework. I beleave also between each parts of classes. There should be 2 week break so the students have more time to study for the exams.

The school was very in the rush to get us out then get us pass our exams. I should went to my local school (like CSM) pay haft the amount to get my MCSE. I though the school is Get our MCSE no matter what.

I am in the IT work force, and have been into it before I've attend the school. With my A+ and Net+ Cerf., but no MSCE.

You mean the school put pressure on you to take exams? Gosh, that's terrible! I mean, the nerve of them trying to get you certified. You're right, you should sue them for making you take the exams. How dare them try to make you an MCSE, especially after you paid $25 grand to sit on your butt for two classes a week!

Plus, you could sue them for forcing you to sign up for the class and making you leave work early! How terrible of them. Geez, classes at computertraining.com have been from 6pm to 10pm for years upon years now. I'm surprised you didn't see that the schedule may be problem for you BEFORE you decided to attend the school.

Right? I mean it's not like the hours changed the day you started class, did they? No they didn't. I was there. (Hi Scotty!!)

BTW for the folks reading this, I'm reasonably sure I was the instructor at the Annapolis Junction center when this student attended. I'm not positive, but I did have a Scotty in one of my T/Th classes. Legally, I am not allowed to reveal information about his attendance and study habits, but read his post above and see if you can get a feel for the kind of student he may have been. Or better yet, post a response here asking him for a copy of his attendance records, grades, and student notes. While neither I, nor the school, can give them to you, certainly he can.

But I bet he won't.

He's probably busy driving two hours to his lawyer's office, then complaining about the location.

I have noticed that most of the complaints on here about computertriaing.com is that it is a fast paced school and the instructors expect you to study on your own and learn without them holding your hand. Hmmm. I think that is what you people signed up for. Trying going to college and you will see that they expect you to do your work on time, take your tests on time, and to study outside of the classroom to succeed. Also many people complain about not being able to find a job. Welcome to the real world! It is hard for people with college degrees to find work. And you do not need a college degree to help you complete this training, but having a degree helps find a job. The salary that they quote is the average of people working in the IT field, which is what they tell you. Life is hard and school is expensive. Yes, unfortunately computertraining.com seems to accept anyone to take their classes. Just like community college does. They can't make you any smarter. It seems that everyone complaining on here was probably not that smart to begin with (if their spelling and grammar abilities are any indication of their intelligence) and all school would be difficult for them. Good luck in the future finding a job when you are illiterate and expect everyone to hold your hand and show you what to do!

Well I would be willing to bet you didn't make it through the program and now your just ticked off that you have this student loan to pay off and cant find a job that can pay it off. Heres the reasons I am assuming this:

A) You state nothing that shows you put any effort forth in this program

B) Jobs are more than readily available to anyone in this career that has spent the time needed to get these certifications. Just check monster.com or any other reputable job finding website if you don't believe me, but I am sure you already knew that.

You see the funny thing about the posts on this website are, from what Ive seen so far anyhow and believe me I intend on reading and responding to every post on this site, is that everyone here all has the same issues and these are all the same issues that someone that did not put the time forth needed to complete this program. This program is a great opportunity, just like college, if you put the proper amount of effort towards it. I also went to college, screwed around and failed out because of it and now have a loan there to....yep pretty dumb huh. Anyhow this is exactly the same situation, you don't put the proper effort forth you will just wind up with debt and nothing more.

You defend CT.edu so well I'm starting to think you actually get paid for your obvious loyalty to this school. I have yet to hear you comment on the mass lay-offs and 10 campuses closing their doors before the new year sets in. I'm pretty sure that CT.edu has a reasonable explanation for all this. But let me guess, you're the spokesperson for this sorry example of a "training program" so I maybe you can explain this.....

I believe that you'll do everyone a favor and admit CT.edu's failures. Do you need a clue? If ex-employees are complaining about the program and warning others to beware of their methods, your defense for this school is falling on deaf ears. I really admire your loyalty for the school, I really do. I think you're very noble in your efforts but there is too much evidence on the table to ignore.

In this stage of the game, no one wants to be scammed. So far, CT.edu has not managed to set the record straight based on their past and current actions. By the looks of it, you're not either.

Well...you guessed it as my posts all completely support CT.edu I am....loyal. I am NOT getting paid (although it would be nice to get paid instead of having to pay my Sallie Mae loan, maybe I should talk to the school about getting my education paid for....)

Anyhow...I saw that you posted this rebuttal while I was at a family party and once again....yes I laughed...If you didn't notice, layoffs are not just happening within this company. I live in an area that is driven by the automotive industry, "What automotive industry"....exactly. I hate to tell you they (or you) are not the only employees that have been lost their jobs in the past few months. Yeah, I agree, if they indeed did not tell their employees or give any notice of school closures, then sure, shame on them.

I am purely supporting the schools educational value, which, as I have said in many other posts, is great. If you are looking for a great IT academy then this is a perfect place to go...if you put some hard work in. If you still think this school is a "scam" then you have issues...Sallie Mae deals with schools all around the country and would not fund a scam operation...they fund an education. So yes I agree with you 100%, if they did close some centers without letting their employees know, thats not right. As far as their education goes...I still insist it is second to none. Feel free to read my other posts :)

Would be interesting to find out what it actually takes to be able to have Sallie Mae approve loans to students that want to go to your institution....bet theres no chance of them being a "scam"....

Yes, CT.edu "may" offer the best IT education primarily due to the instructors educational capabilities and teaching methods, which has nothing to do with the company.  I would suggest these instructors teach at the following schools: ITT Tech, Devry or a College/University because CT.edu is now CLOSED FOR BUSINESS.  CT.edu closed it's doors right after the Christmas holiday and before New Years and all assets are ceased but I'm sure you already knew that Mr. Executive or President claiming to be a Student. If my assumption of your representation for this "school" is off-base, I'm sure it wouldn't be a first for you.

CT.edu closed without warning the remaining employees similar to the employees that were laid off on NOV. 23rd! Here it is, just shy of a month and already after laying off over 20 personnel and closing 10 campuses:CLOSED. Yet again, another group of CT.edu employees are faced with unemployment. This just confirms all the negative feedback for this company as a whole. You say that many companies are laying off around the U.S. (and somehow you chuckled at that thought) but here's the difference CT.edu cannot afford to pay their remaining employees for time worked before the school closes? That's pretty shady. Employees that are due to be paid on Jan 1st will not even see a paycheck? If that's not scam then it must be normal from your perspective.

I can say this with the utmost certainty, I have yet to see someone stand behind a "garbage" organization as much as you have. As for admiring your "nobility", I'd have to retract my appreciation. But, I have to give credit where credit is due. At least you acknowledged that their methods were wrong. I must say, that was very human of you. In my opinion, CT.edu is not worthy of LOYALTY or RESPECT for that matter because of their lack of INTEGRITY and RESPONSIBILITY.

So I guess you can continue to defend a company that is now closed for obvious reasons. Again, no one seems to buy your recurring explanations.

P.S. What do you tell current students who are still enrolled? It's not a scam? If you let them decide I'd bet they would choose the latter.

Yes, it is true....that after many long, drawn out years, this miserable company has finally closed its doors for good. To be honest, it's amazing it lasted this long. With an owner (David Rau) and CEO (Chuck Lang) who obviously don't know the first thing about running a business, this place was driven into the ground by lousy management, poor decision making, and simple greed.

As a school, it was hit or miss. You could end up at one of it's better centers where the instructor and Career Service advisors actually cared about how you ended up, or you could end up at one that was "going through some changes" a.k.a they just fired the staff and are scrambling to train the new people. The turn-over rate at this company was unbelievable. When I started, there were 25 positions equivilant to mine. After two years, only 5 of the original people in those positions were still there. Instead of re-examining the structure of the company, it's training methods, or management, their solution was instead to simply fire people and start over with someone new. And with the ridiculously inflated salaries that they offer under-qualified people, no one would turn down a job like that, especially in this economy. You're hired under the impression that the money is there to be made, so go make it! Then it's only a matter of time until they would cut your bonueses (yes, people were bonused on enrollments, job placements, students certified, etc), cut your salaries, change your hours, increase the cost of benefits, or fired you all together. The management treated people like shit. What's ironic is that their commercials talk about being "disposable" at your job, so come get new training, when in reality, the employees at this company were fully aware of how disposable they really were. Everyone knew that each day could be their last.

While I feel horrible for all of the people who actually worked in the centers that lost their jobs, I am overly joyous that David Rau finally failed. This man not only has a Napoleon complex, but he surrounds himself with people that are equally horrible. His business partner, Jerry Depetris, was let go for sexually harrassing an employee, making threats against her life and job, and sending inappropriate emails to her threatening to share intimate details with the entire company. This man is in his 40's and preys on young women (not to mention he has a record for hitting them as well). Yet, after the woman was also fired, David considered hiring Jerry back, despite all that he did. David sits in his mini-mansion in Tampa, Florida while dozens of people are out of a job now. He knew this was coming, yet he did nothing to help those who were in the field fighting to save the company that he destroyed.

When David first came back into the ComputerTraining.com picture, he would flood the inboxes with emails ranting about how he was taking the whole company on a cruise for New Years, and they could even bring a spouse or friend! He would promise "mystery trips" to those who could enroll the most students, or give away exuberant amounts of money as prizes. Ask those same employees if they've started packing for their cruise yet......

This company has been doomed from the start, because it's sole interest was in making money. At one point, when the CEO was informed that a potential student didn't have a green card (and therefore wasn't eligible for the loan program) his response was, "well, does he have green money?". Greed will get you no where gentlemen.

Again, I'm am terribly sorry for those hard-working individuals who lost their jobs the Monday after Christmas (but rest assure David's cruising around Tampa with his buddies and not a care in the world!). However, I am glad this school has closed, so it can no longer harm students or employees.

While it may not seem like it now folks, please trust that you are far better off without this company in your life. It may not be great timing, but you will find a better job, where you are valued and rewarded appropriately for your hard work. Having a big salary is nice, but being able to sleep at night knowing you're not supporting a greedy bastard is much better.

What evidence are you basing your claim as I attended class last night. I am concerned being a student that has not yet graduated. I realize that the program is in trouble as I witnessed the layoffs in my school. We were told our center would be closing but not until our class had graduated.

I am not happy about some of the changes that have taken place. Mostly with the loss of our career placement person. I do realize that the best opportunity for employment is to continue applying myself to the course study and learn everything I can.

With that being said, I am concerned about the status of the school. What facts do you base you statements that the school is closed? Please only give fact as personal opinions only add confusion to a situation that is already confusing.

I also want to say that I thought the school was cold hearted with the surprise layoffs. I feel that they lost some good people and that it definitely presents new challenges to me finding employment in the IT field.

In closing I would like to inform people like Scotty that the check mark with ABC is spell check. Do yourself a favor and become familar with it!

Well for the record, I am indeed a student, well or was...lol.... Our school has yet to officaily been closed, the manager at our location told us that the "HVAC was malfuctioning" and thats why class was cancelled yesterday... Looks like this isnt the case at all...We still havent acually been told anything official however.

At any rate...I still stand by my original post, the Instuctor that I had was amazing, he worked very hard to make sure you did succeed. I will have to just finish up my MCSA and MCSE on my own....

I would agree now that the company as a whole failed...obviously lol....

Anyone that was in the program, just keep pushing you can do it on your own, may not be as easy, but you can do it. :)

Frank, you are a real ball washer. No matter how great your instructor tasted how could you possibly praise a organization that took our money and left us empty handed. If I wanted to learn on my own I wouldn't have written the check. Sounds like you live in wonderland. I doubt you are a student I don't know anyone that wants to pay a lot of money and be had like so many of us real students were. Did you get to class early every night so you could get under the instructors desk? Why don't you just tell us you are one the people who crapped the bed and let the real students down. Atleast then you could claim a little dignity.

Computer training taught me basic skills about computer that I already knew (and anybody from my generation should know). I went to them and told them that they didnt explain their course subjects to me and that it wasted my time... guess what? they blew me off and stopped responding to my complaint emails. They won't give me my money back... this place is such a fake.

It's strange that David Rau 'shut down' operations in late December but has yet to declare a Chapter 7 or 11 bankruptcy. Maybe he's hoping everyone just forgets and leaves him alone with the money.

It's time to start pressing for refunds and back pay. If anyone can locate Davids new address we can get this process going. I suspect he's left the Florida area, possibly back to Maryland. Lets track this guy down.
