Gateway Computers Selling damaged failed unuseable computer hardware consumer rip-off fraud

Gateway Computers turns their failed hard drives, floppy drives, CD-ROMS, ande other computer hardware over to re-sellers to be resold to unsuspecting consumers as "over-stock". Gateway doesn't return failed hard drives to Western Digital. Instead they turn them over to shady vendors as "overstock" and the vendors are selling these items to unsuspecting consumers at MarketPro Computer Shows, over the Internet, mail order, etc.

I was sold two Western Digital hard drives at a MarketPro Show in Pittsburgh, PA and was told they were good drives, just over stock from Gateway. The drives were, in fact, junk. They are completely unuseable. The vendor failed to provide any contact information that was valid. Gateway is "unable to make a replacement since they were not purchased from Gateway".

Western Digital refuses to replace them as they are manufactured for Gateway, therefore, the warranty is the responsibility of Gateway. Each one seems to pass the buck to the other. I contacted MarketPro about this issue and have not received a reply as yet.

BEWARE OF THE VENDORS AT MARKETPRO SHOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dO NOT PAY WITHOUT CONTACT INFO. IF THEY REFUSE...DO NOT PURCHASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's the deal. Gateway, Dell and all the others sell overstock to various individuals. That is where Gateway's (or whoever's) involvement ends. PERIOD..BOTTOM LINE. If you buy something from a dealer pay special attention to the warranty info. If you think Gateway (or whoever) should stand behind something you bought from someone else (no matter what that someone else may or may not have told you) YOU ARE A SUCKER! Don't fault Gateway (or any other 3rd party) because you wern't paying attention or got suckered. Why should they take a loss? Gateway didn't sell you anything. They had nothing to do with your misfortune.
