Dear Customer,
The Cyberdefender customer service department would be happy to investigate the status of your account, but unfortunately we cannot find your account from just the online nickname “cap22” and need more identifying information in order to assist you. We would be glad to work with you towards a solution for your unsatisfactory experience, so feel free to contact our corporate headquarters at 877-229-5957, or email us at supportATcyberdefender.com, and please be sure to give us your full name, date of purchase, and the email address you used when you made your purchase. We will be happy to assist you.
We have no means of trapping any visitors to our website and cannot “trap [you] on our site” until you buy anything – any customer can exit out of our website at any time simply by clicking the [X] in the upper right hand corner of the browser page. Regarding your contention that CyberDefender “ate my antivirus software and my antispyware first,” we assure you that our products really are just computer programs and are not capable of “eating” other programs or taking aggressive action of any kind.
If it seems that our antivirus software has not worked on your computer, your Early Detection Center account does not work until it is activated. If your account remained unactivated, that would be the reason why a message box would keep popping up prompting you to activate your account. For details on how to uninstall CyberDefender products please visit: (((Redacted)))
The problems you are describing, such as a program that “ate” your other software, are not anything our program could ever possibly have caused, and if your computer is malfunctioning that severely, you might want to take it to a tech shop and have the hard drive reformatted and the operating systems reinstalled. That will return your computer to out-of-the-box factory specifications, and get rid of any virus or malware that’s set up shop on your computer. Be sure to back up all of your data on a peripheral device first, however.
From the behavior of the program on your computer, it’s also entirely possible that you might have mistaken a rogue antivirus such as Cyber Security for a legitimate CyberDefender program. You can learn more about rogue antiviruses here: (((Redacted)))
None of the programs listed in the Wikipedia page are in any way affiliated with CyberDefender.
Your assertion that “These people were out of India!” is not true, as CyberDefender is an American, California-incorporated company. It is possible that when you called our call center, you spoke to an American customer service representative with a Latin-American, Russian-American, or Indian-American accent, or spoke to one of our after-hours overseas reps in India or the Philippines. CyberDefender is an equal-opportunity employer, and our Los Angeles workforce consists of talented people from a great number of ethnicities and backgrounds, reflecting the extremely diverse mix of cultures in our hometown.
We also outsource some of our very considerable customer service workload to overseas call centers, just like a great many large American corporations. We will always give refunds to dissatisfied customers, and securing the services of a lawyer to get a refund is not necessary. All you need to do is contact our customer service helpdesk, say you want a refund, and you’ll get your refund. It’s that simple.
Again, we would be glad to work with you towards a solution for your unsatisfactory experience, so feel free to contact our corporate headquarters at 877-229-5957, Monday through Friday from 5:00am – 10:00pm, or Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email us at supportATcyberdefender.com, and please be sure to give us your full name, date of purchase, and the email address you used when you made your purchase. We will be happy to assist you.
Thank you,
CyberDefender Customer Service
