We finally received the computer on January 24, 2008. It is not the DELL I was told I was receiving. It is a HP with an AMD processor not on par with the DELL Intel Processor it was supposed to have. I was told up until the day we received it I was getting a DELL computer. Mr. Tim Houston even stated problems with the company also the fact he was worried I was going to take my money back after I had paid it off. Mr. Tim Houston advised due to all the problems his company had given me he was upgrading the ram to 3 gigs. It does have 3 gigs of ram, from some unknown manufacturer in asia. He advised he was upgrading the Hard Drive to 250 gigs from the 80. This was done as well.
The computer did not come with Microsft Works 8.5 and came with Window's XP not Vista. It also did not come with 2 Stereo speakers.
I called them today and requested information as to when I would be recieving my Nintendo Wii and the MP3 player and the 19 item Software Suite. I was placed on hold and when the CSR came back on the line he informed me that the auditing dept stated I would be getting a GPS as the Wii was not the promotional item when I signed up in March of 2008. I then rebutted that stating I signed up in July and stated according to the paper in from of me it was a Wii. I was put on hold again and then informed after a period of waiting that Mr. Tim Houston would have to contact me.
I didn't even get into the fact of the $60.00 they still owe me for taking money out of my act after the payoff. I was told that I could send the computer back since I stated the processor was not as good as the one I was led to believe I was getting. My son doesn't want to return anything at this point it took so long to just get it after I paid it off. I was told Mr. Houston would be calling me. At this time I waiting for this call. A comment was even made by the CSR asking if I the complaint I lodged with the BBB was resolved at this time. I stated no and I would not have filed the complaint if they wouldn't have been giving me the run around for over 2 months.
I also filed a complaint with Consumer Affairs in Fairfax County VA and recieved a copy of a letter they sent to Mr. Tim Houston advising him of my complaint and giving him 10 days from the receipt of that letter to respond to it. This letter was also CC'd to Carol Paynter of the Federal Trade Commission.
