Purchased one and only one background report and denied wanting the credit card protection.  Sign up for membership was free.

Upon checking the receipt, I noticed they had billed me $21.?? for the membership, for the background check, and after the seven day free trial, would bill this credit card $19.99/mo. for the credit card protection.

It said to cancel the protection, to access a specific webpage.  I did, filled it out, hit continue and the next screen, theirs, says the webpage doesn't exist.  So

I accessed the same webpage, put as a subject line "Webpage quality comments" and wrote in the message screen to cancel, cancel, cancel the c.c. protection.  It accepted the webpage.  To wit, if you have a complaint, the webpage doesn't exist, but if you have a comment on their webpage design/etc., THEN the webpage exists.

I contacted my credit card company within 1 hour of the purchase and challenged the entire purchase, even the background report, as it was used to lure me to unauthorized charges.

If you select a promotional price on the Intelius website, you will also receive a free 7 day trial of Identity Protect.   After the 7 day trial, it will convert to a regular subscription and bill out at $19.95 monthly.

However, there’s no obligation.  If you determine within the 7 day trial that you no longer want Identity Protect, you can cancel your service anytime, online or over the phone with a customer support representative.

Please call 888-445-2727 Monday – Friday 4:30am – 10:00pm PST.  We will be more than happy to assist you with your account.

Balderdash to Intellius and employees

AUTHOR: Ian Carr - Freeland (United States of America)

As stated in my complaint, the webpage I was referred to on their site to cancel enrollment in the credit card protection "does not exist".  To wit, one is given that option and referred to their webpage.  One chooses as a subject line a "cancel" or a negative subject line, type in your cancellation notice in the box hit return and

"this webpage does not exist"    Magically appears.  Such occurred after two consecutive tries.  "this webpage does not exist".

So.

I chose a different subject line, typed in the cancellation and the web page, that didn't exist, magically magically accepts same.

Plus

Employee carefully skipped responding to the false billing for "membership".   A cost that is not mentioned, implied or even aluded to when signing up to do business with them.  You must pay them to do business and pay them for the report.

False false, deceptive, fraudulent billing occurs with each and every purchase with Intellius and all it's affiliates.  I've contacted the Attorneys General in Virginia and Washington state, plus the FTC and my bank regarding this fraud.
