I have to say starting out that I can't even give this company 1 star, but apparently a minimum is required to write a review. So much has happened, I apologize in advance for the very long review.
I posted a Help Wanted ad asking for a web designer for my startup non-profit, and Flash Computer Services (then based in Livermore California) responded. When asked for references, Jennifer Kendrick/Jennifer Holsworth responded with three websites (one was marginally bad but the other two were good so I went with it).
We talked on the phone, and I explained that I needed a functional website as quickly as possible due to time constraints with an upcoming fundraiser and me going out of town for a week. I also needed to work out a payment plan because I am paying for everything out of pocket until my grants come in. She said it was no problem, so I hired them and sent the initial $200 deposit we agreed upon via PayPal along with the site information and graphic I wanted used.
They had all site information, payment and correct ftp password for my hosting account by August 18th. Not only was my site not posted online, but the previous splash page I'd created to be a source of info for my new business disappeared as well and all my site said was that access was forbidden. Because of this, there was no way for anyone to sign up to attend the fundraiser I had planned nor to get any information about it so it had to be cancelled.
I tried contacting them via email and phone for several days, no response. On August 24th I finally sent an email and left a phone message saying that we needed to cancel our partnership and i needed my deposit back, since nothing I'd paid them to do had been done.
August 25th I received a voicemail from Jennifer saying that they had successfully moved to Nevada and would be uploading my website as soon as they had an internet connection in a few days. I called back and asked why they hadn't told me they were moving or tried to upload my site before they left, and the only excuse Jennifer offered was that she was pregnant.
Against my better judgement, I agreed to give them one more chance if they could get my website up ASAP. I would have to trust them to do so, since I was leaving town the next morning and would be out of contact until September 4th. She promised for 10 minutes that she was really sorry and that it would be taken care of.
I left town.
When I got back and checked my website, it was complete garbage. It honestly looked like someone who'd only heard about web design through someone else decided to give it a shot. Information i'd given was missing, fonts were impossible to read, colors clashed (the entire site was magenta, maroon, pink, white and black and NOT in a good way). She'd also invented logos and catch phrases I never asked for, and were god-awful.
On top of this, I finally got calls back from the reference sites she'd originally sent me and they all said they'd never heard of her. I immediately emailed again stating that this was completely unacceptable and I would appreciate my deposit back.
I then received an email back stating that she had no intention of giving me anything back, and had in fact posted the awful website on purpose because she'd Googled my name and decided she didn't like my personal life (information about which, based on the things she said about it in her email to me, she misread as completely as if she'd read Winnie the Pooh and decided it was scat porn). She also stated that she was going to sue me for copyright infringement, and would do her best to ruin any reputation my business has.
So basically she has completely failed to do anything I paid her to do, refuses to return my money, and is threatening to try to ruin my non-profit's reputation from now to the forseeable future all because she misread something about my personal life on Google (I don't even know exactly what it was, she was never specific).
The bottom line is this: maybe Jacob's a nice guy, I have no idea because I only ever dealt with his fiance Jennifer Kendrick/Jennifer Holsworth. But based on my experience with her, I'd have to say she is a little on the high-strung side and is not someone I'd ever want to business with again. If someone manages to work with jacob instead and has a better experience, by all means please post it here.
