I had my computer reformatted a day ago. My Outlook Express for my emails did not work, so I phoned Bell. The tech couldn't fix the problem and gave me a number, 1-866-610-4745. I thought I was talking to another tech for Outlook Express but apparently I wasn't .
They were Omni Tech Support, rescue fix line. They took over my computer remotely with my permission because I thought they were higher up techs from Bell. They said my registry was corrupted; they could fix the problem and get my Outlook Express to work, provided I buy their Assurance Plan for $300. I was surprised to get a sales-pitch which lasted over half an hour, with the prices being dickered down to $100. Finally, I typed in the online chat: "Just fix Outlook Express, please!" They didn't do that but the tech had to call his supervisor! I disconnected and turned off my computer. It was 10 p.m. and I'd been on the computer with them since 9 p.m. They phoned me at 10:30 p.m. waking me up and trying to sell me their Plan again.
I don't know how Bell would even forward a phone number to that company from their own techs? The sales-pitch was long and persistent and from the accents, I gather, from India (which gives that country a bad reputation for which I'm sorry).
