I was called by a company called National Printer Supplies, PO Box 2261, Los Angeles, CA 90078, 1-800-341-7112. What they "supply" are printer cartridges. I was called and told that I had an outstanding order that Angie (a previous employee) made for 4 printer cartridges for a particular printer - the employee told me it was our HP printer, with serial and all. Two were sent and two more needed to be sent to complete the order, did I want them sent now? We just happened to be down to one, so I, foolishly agreed. They sent the cartridges at an outrageous price, twice what it normally costs. I paid the cost. But found out later that Angie never ordered the cartridges and that I really shouldn't use them because they could potentially ruin my printer.

I found out later the scam. What they do is call, talk to the receptionist. Ask who normally orders supplies (typical sales question). They call again, pretend to be a supplier, ask the receptionist to get the make, and serial number of our printer(s) for their records. Call again, ask to speak to the supplier, tell the supplier that there is an outstanding order for such and such printer, serial number xxxxxxx. In my case, I got the call because Angie no longer worked for us and I now maintain the printers. So I got the "well, Angie, who used to order supplies made this order....." I believed them. I talked to our real supplier, he said that he's known people to purchase these cartridges and they are filled with sand or some other "unusual substance". I was prompted to write this letter, because, believe it or not, they have called me 3 times since the order was "fulfilled", with the same exact story!!!! I tried to email them to take me off their calling list, of course you can't get into it without a password. The last couple of calls I tried to get phone number, addresses, etc. The phone number didn't work and the address is of course a PO box. When I begin to ask questions, I get hung up on. Please get the word out on this and other companies like it. I am not the only person who has fallen for this. A coworker is the one who tipped me off, she fell for it too at a previous company.
