I recently answered an advertisement in our local newspaper in Durham, North Carolina. The ad was for Data Entry Clerks. I was told if I purchased their software for $249.00 I would be sent software to do medical coding. I was told I would be supplied with the work and would make $17.00 per hour and guaranteed 20 hours a week. I was told the work would be faxed to me every Monday and I should return the completed work via fax on Friday. I never received the software. When I received my Visa statement, $269.00 was charged to my account. I have contacted the company repeatedly. I have called their toll free number and also their toll number. The person I spoke with was Cynthia Jamerson. They have 2 phone numbers. One number (877-395-6560) is supposedly a company called Medical Business Network based in Chicago. They sell you the software from S&K Digital in California whose phone number is (310-515-5702). I have spoken with the Attorney General's Office and they are trying to catch several scam artists. They said that there are no legitimate companies like this. 99.9 percent of these companies are scams and they are hard to catch because they move around and keep changing their names. So everyone, PLEASE BEWARE!!! Don't be deceived. If it sounds to good to be true, IT IS.
