Extended warranty companies are notorious for disappearing and/ or going out of business. When an item is bought new, it would generally have a warranty. The “extended warranty” doesn’t cover anything until the OEM warranty expires. This assures the extended warranty company will have no claims for normally a year or so. In the mean time, they’re collecting money for warranty extensions which are, of course, 100% profit. Most selling dealers get 50% of the warranty premium. Wonder why they hawk them so willingly?

This gives the extended warranty "company" usually a year to disappear with their share of the premium, which they historically do! The dealer makes out like crazy, as the dealer has no liability. “Sorry, the warranty company went out of business. You’re out of luck.” Just remember, at this point, the dealer got as much of the premium as the now missing “warranty company”. Sadly, that has no bearing on your problem. Just more money in the dealer’s pocket.
