Hello my name is Zachary I was ripped off by gateway about a year ago I got a copy of my credit report and found out that someone had ordered a computer in my name from gateway . I filed a police report contacted gateway and they gave me the run around and they frustrated me so bad. I was the victim yet they made me feel like I was the one who did something wrong.

Now I am still paying for a computer that I do not even have! so far I have paid them close to 2,000 dollars for a computer that someone eles bought in 1999 and here it is the year 2003 but I am the type of person that wants my credit report to look good and Yet I feel like this should not even be on my credit report ! Its not my purchase I have been done wrong.

Please get in touch with the Credit Bureaus (Equifax, Experian & TransUnion). They have fraud divisions that will handle this for you as long as you reported to the police. They all have Websites with the 800 #'s for fraud/identity theft.

Also, if fraud is proven and you notified Gateway but paid anyway under threat to your credit report, they may be liable also.

If you do nothing else, call your State Attorney Generals Office - Consumer Affairs Div and file a complaint.
