i purchased my acer aspire desktop from best buy in april, o9 for 400.00 for college and thats why i need it it started making noises on oct 7th so i called them in temple, texas and they told me i had to send it back to them and if their were any spills then i would be responsible for the charges, well the computer processers was defective from the start and i have been calling the tech support checking on the progress of the repair and every time i call it is the same old story we are waiting on the part which they said was the motherboard cpu that has to be replaced and that was since they recieved it from ups on oct.9th and i called them again for the third time today which is oct.16th and they keep saying that they at the repair center is waiting for the cpu to come in before its repaired well i am a college student online and every day i am without my computer gets me bad grades and i need my computer here are some of my numbers the repair no. they gave me is 15fi84k  and its still under the manufacturers 1year warranty for defective parts, what i want is someone to help get on their case about my computer and i want to be compensated for the time they are taking to send it back and i want it to be working brand new so i wont have to keep going through their process again now if they try and not send my computer back then i want to be compensated for the price of it where i can buy another one.

So

AUTHOR: Susan - This City (U.S.A.)

So they have had your computer for 7 days and are waiting for a part.

From the photo you included, it looks like milk was splattered on it.  Why did you say that made them say " if their were any spills then i would be responsible for the charges," I hope you at least cleaned the case before you sent it in.

Either way kiddo, they have only been trying to fix your dirty computer for 7 days and are waiting on parts.

Funny how you say "i am a college student online and every day i am without my computer gets me bad grades and i need my computer"

Call me silly but instead of hunting places to complain about your dirty computer, and filing this report. Maybe you should be doing your school work.  You obviously can because you are online complaining.

FYI: I hope you cleaned the porn off your hard drive before you sent it in.  My husbands boss sent his Acer in for repairs.  He is on the sex offender list forever now and lost his job.

Can only hope.

AUTHOR: Robert - Buffalo (USA)

I can only hope that an English course (or two) is part of your college curriculum.

Surely there are many places on campus where you can use a computer for free; library, computer lab, etc.

Heck, even the community colleges around here will let you sign out a laptop for a limited period of time.  You should be able to use a computer while you're waiting for your machine to be prepared.  The only difficulty you have is that you'll have to do your classwork from someplace other than your dorm room/home.

Expecting your computer repaired and returned in one week is unreasonable.

Should they refuse to repair it, do post a follow-up report and tell us why.

liquid spills and confused customers

AUTHOR: me - (United States of America)

As a repair tech at the Temple TX repair center I find it amazing how so many acer owners that send there notebooks/netbooks in get so confused about a liquid spill that we so often find. 99% of the time we pull the keyboard off and there it is.... Liquid spill on the mainboard, upper case, etc. We take pictures and create a incident for our call center to communicate to the owner that there is a liquid spill and that there will be a $199 charge for parts needed to be replace. Almost every time the owner gets mad and throws a fit saying they did not spill liquids on the computer. Then there are those who either have admitted to it before they sent the computer in or understand they have damaged the computer and pay without a fuss. Liquid ruins electronic componenets, its no secret. In some cases as a tech I will over look the spill if it is very minor even if it means replaceing main components. My point is even if you had issues before the liquid spill, Acer has to look at the facts of why the computer is not acting right and 9 out of 10 a liquid spill will cause many issues, including yours.

for the repair tech

AUTHOR: elicia - san diego (United States of America)

Response for the repair tech w/Acer...I'm sending my laptop that I just purchased 2 months ago as a gift for my daughter, off to Acer for repairs (getting a blank screen when starting). I know for a fact there was NO liquid damage, as I monitor her use in her room (which means no food or drink is allowed in her room). Can you give me your technical advice on what could have done this? She may have used her notebook about 10 times since receiving it for Christmas. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
