Do Not Use GEEK SQUAD for ANYTHING! I made an appointment to have my computer serviced for 10 am mon 1/2/2006 A week before. They called 3 minutes before the appt. and canceled it. They have a policy if YOU don't give them 2 hours notice of a cancelation, they charge YOU!!

I lost a days pay and a personal day waiting for them to show. How do I get My money. I am going to bill them for $150.00 for the lost time. I have a cancelation policy also. THESE GUYS ARE WORSE THAN THE CABLE COMPANYS! Call some one else for service and DONT buy their add ons in the store, you are waisting your $$$$ and time!

Best Buy Rip Off

I live near the Best Buy Headquarters in Richfield, MN, and I too think the Geek Squad is ridiculous. Besides for Best Buys incredibly high prices, their young computer technicians seem unqualified, especially when you buy a PC and they assume that you want to pay 79.99 for Norton Antivirus without the CD, so they install it on the thier PCs.

One time Best Buy left that Geek Squad Software installer in a PC of someone whom I know, I checked out the CD, it was nothing but a CD full of Software Installers, and Microsoft Windows XP Key Generators and cracks which violates Microsofts Windows Laws. And this software was created inside of the Best Buy headquarters for the Customer! Just for myself, I made a copy! These people called for the CD and wanted it delivered back to their store ASAP! I hope Microsoft is okay with Best Buy using illegal CD keys to install there software onto a customers PC. So the next time you decide to bring your PC into Best Buy, and they re-install Microsoft Windows XP, check your version of Windows for a Legally valid CD Key!

Did you know that Geek squad sends off *all* systems to be repaired whether it is under warantee or not? This causes their turn-around time to be from 30-45 days. yes, they send desktops off, they don't do anything more than simple installations and upgrades in their stores, they may perform a soft-fix once in a while. Check this out: CompUSA keeps all desktop-systems in the store until repaired, average turn around; 3-5 working days (CompUSA techs work 7 days a week) also, CompUSA won't cancel on a service call, won't charge you 2 fees, one for diagnosing your PC, then a rediculous hourly rated fee. CompUSA uses a flat-rate service fee for out-of-warantee systems needing repair, meaning, the only extra cost is any additional service you purchase, or parts/software related to the repair of your system. CompUSA is also approved by more than a few companies (only ones they are not approved for repair is Dell, Acer and Averatec) making repairs on your system almost painless with fast turn-around times.
